• Assists in the day-to-day operations of the Human Resource department to carry out the following responsibilities in the following functional areas, to include but not limited to: New Hire processing, provide guidance on company policies and procedures, oversight training and development, benefits, compensation, and recruitment.
• Responsible for all or part of position changes and pay, providing specific information on personnel related matters that include general employment inquires, employee benefits such as health and life insurance, FMLA, short term disability, etc.
• Aids employees on personnel matters, in processing new employees, coordinating new hire orientation and required physicals.
• Maintains employee records and applicable company related databases.
• Prepares and analyzes reports that are necessary to carry out the functions of the department and company.
• Assists with the development of Human Resources with regards to employee relations and processes.
• Partners with managers and supervisors to communicate Human Resources policies, procedures, programs, and laws.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Must possess a high school diploma, or equivalent.
• Must have a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of related experience in Human Resources and Administration or equivalent.
• Must be able to perform duties and responsibilities with little supervision.
• Must have excellent communication organizational, analytical, presentation, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
• Must be able to interface with all levels of employees effectively.
• Must be knowledgeable and experienced in the administration of benefits and compensation programs and other HR related programs.
• Must be knowledgeable of federal and local employment laws and procedures.
• Must be knowledgeable of union type workforce.
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office programs.
• Must practice high level of confidentiality.
Desired:
o Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources
o Experience with oversight of a company’s training programs and implemented a program.
o Familiarity with Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements, use of HRIS, Costpoint, and Deltek database applications.
o Obtain Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) credential.
