Position Summary

 

The Human Resources Generalist will be a key contributor to the collaborative HR team. This position, focusing on Communications, Employee Engagement, and Organizational Development, will create and distribute frequent company-wide announcements, produce and direct a monthly video blog, organize large-scale corporate meetings, and coordinate various employee engagement initiatives throughout the year.

 

Beyond this primary focus, you’ll learn and actively contribute to additional functions within the dynamic field of Human Resources, including talent acquisition and onboarding, learning and development, employee benefits and wellness programs, and payroll processing. What You’ll Do

 

As a Human Resources Generalist, you will report to the Chief People Officer and closely work alongside a dedicated team of Human Resource Professionals supporting a base of 500 employees across the Chicagoland Area.

  • Manage internal communications programs to connect with employees across the organization through email campaigns, video messaging, events, and more.
  • Utilize Canva, Clipchamp, Jumpshare, and other design tools to create consistent, quality communications pieces.
  • Responsible for the creative sourcing and talent acquisition of our salaried employees.
  • Manage the on-boarding experience including promotional materials, new hire orientation, and engagement activities throughout the first year of employment.
  • Interface with various levels from Executive Management to employees in addressing individual and programmatic needs.
  • Actively participate in Organizational Development Initiatives that make a difference.

 

 

You may provide support and handle a variety of other HR-related services including but not limited to:

 

  • Provide subject matter expertise and internal communications involving topics such as benefits enrollment, life events, retiree benefits, records, data management and other HR services.
  • Be responsible for systems and reporting needs including the creation of dashboards, infographics, running reports, and data validation and integrity.
  • Analyze and resolve employee and manager complex questions on various HR related issues.
  • Assist employees with navigation of HR sites, and inform employees and management on human resources policies, guidelines, processes, and procedures.
  • Perform various and interesting other project related duties as required.

 

Who You Are

 

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline with a few years of experience in Human Resources or Master's degree with a year of related experience.  
  • Excellent customer-focused communication skills that include patience, attentiveness, and the general courtesy of treating others as you would like to be treated.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and team-based orientation.
  • Excellent creative and business writing and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion in daily work.
  • Ability to work and problem solve independently utilizing available resources and tools.
  • Experience with HR systems, employee metrics, and reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to spot anomalies and trends.
  • Detail-oriented with good organizational skills.
  • Flexible mindset and able to effectively prioritize competing priorities while working in an exciting fast-paced team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to consult and advise customers and management as a subject matter expert.
  • Excellent relationship management skills.
  • Someone with the potential to learn and grow in the field of Human Resources.

 

Preferred Skills:

 

  • 1 to 3+ years of HR experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills with an engaging flair for creativity.  
  • Specific HR certification or education.
  • Technical computer proficiency including Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), Canva, video editing and design tools, and/or the ability to quickly pick up these skills.
  • Experience leading and coordinating events and activities that involve a few hundred people.
  • Demonstrated capability to make strategic improvements to programs that results in improved efficiency and overall utilization.
