JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: Human Resource Generalist 

Reports to: Vice President, Human Resources  

 

OBJECTIVE

The Human Resources Generalist will serve as a key partner in supporting day-to-day HR operations. This role will provide hands-on HR support across multiple functional areas including, partnering with managers on day-to-day people matters, including policy interpretation, employee relations/investigations, attendance and conduct concerns, and performance management support.  The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable operating in a regulated, high-growth aviation environment.

This position will work closely with HR leadership, managers, and employees to ensure consistent application of policies, compliance with applicable employment regulations, and a positive employee experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partner with leaders and managers to provide day-to-day guidance on employee relations matters, workplace conduct, attendance, and performance concerns
  • Serve as a first point of contact for employees and managers regarding HR-related questions, policies, and procedures
  • Assist with employee relations matters including intake, fact gathering, documentation, investigations, and corrective action processes under the guidance of HR leadership
  • Support managers with performance management processes, including coaching conversations, documentation, performance improvement plans, and follow-up actions
  • Reinforce consistent and fair application of company policies across all departments
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in HRIS systems and personnel files
  • Support HR programs and initiatives such as performance management, training, engagement, and policy updates
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Safety, Legal, Finance, Operations, and other business partners
  • Support compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws by following established processes and escalating complex matters as appropriate
  • Assist with employee engagement initiatives in partnership with HR leadership to support a positive and consistent employee experience
  • Additional duties as assigned 

 

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, or a related field
  • 3–5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a Generalist or similar role
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
  • Strong documentation, organizational, and time management skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems (ADP preferred) and Microsoft Office
  • HR experience within aviation, transportation, logistics, or other highly regulated industries (preferred). 
  • Experience supporting employee relations investigations and compliance matters (preferred).

The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
