Human Resources Generalist Job Description

True North is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Human Resources Generalist to join our HR team. This role offers a blend of administrative and strategic responsibilities, supporting key HR functions such as payroll, staffing, benefits administration, and employee engagement. This is a full-time role reporting to the Director of Human Resources.

Primary Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Fully manage payroll processing, including data entry, documentation of changes, and related employee questions and requests.
  • Oversee day-to-day HR administrative tasks including onboarding, offboarding, and HRIS data management.
  • Manage open enrollment processes, benefits changes, and employee or provider inquiries
  • Manage Leaves of Absence (LOA) documentation and related benefits
  • Coordinate recruitment efforts, including job postings, interview scheduling, and candidate communication.
  • Manage documentation and processes including offer letters, background checks, and I-9 forms
  • Support the development and communication of HR policies and procedures.
  • Assist in administering performance review processes.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, etc.) and maintain required documentation
  • Provide administrative support during company acquisitions, including employee transitions, orientations, and documentation.

Education, Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field(s)
  • 1-2 years of HR experience including at least 1 year of payroll experience required 
  • Experience with ADP or similar HRIS/payroll systems preferred
  • Capacity to apply discretion and maintain a high level of confidentiality when handling sensitive information
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ethics, and cultural awareness
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and work independently or collaboratively.
  • Aptitude for problem-solving detail orientation 
  • Foundational understanding of HR procedures and policies and federal/state employment regulations and laws
  • Must consent to credit report and background check
