Advanced Medical Transport (AMT) is the premier provider of emergency and scheduled ambulance services throughout Central Illinois, as well as parts of Iowa. AMT is a private, not-for-profit organization operated for community benefit.
As an HR Generalist at AMT, you will provide guidance to candidates, employees and managers. As part of a small, but agile HR team, you will have the opportunity to enjoy success as an individual contributor as well as part of a team.
Job Duties:
- Handle low-risk employee relations issues, including investigations and employee concerns, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Document and communicate core HR processes.
- Recruit, interview, and facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Ensure completion of all post-offer requirements.
- Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory training including safety training, harassment prevention training, and compliance training; administration of learning modules within Paycom HRIS.
- Organizes new hire orientation.
- Implement employee recognition programs.
- Coordinate employee events.
- Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute employee benefits including but not limited to group medical insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, uniform allocations, 403b, life insurance, long-term disability, wellness program, and short term disability.
- Create, manage, and execute bonus, tuition, and other contract agreements between AMT and employees.
- Administer human resource programs to include disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; and performance and talent management.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintain electronic employee files, job description repository, and license database.
- Administer and track employee leave programs.
- Create and distribute internal communications regarding policy, events, training, and other matter to appropriate staff.
- Maintain safety documentation for OSHA, BLS, and worker’s compensation tracking and reporting.
- Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- College degree in Human Resources, Organizational Behavior, Business or equivalent, required.
- At least one year of human resource management experience preferred.
- SHRM-CP or PHR a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficiency with Paycom, a plus.
- Comfortable speaking to groups about HR topics (such as review of benefits in onboarding meeting).
- Travel between company facilities may be necessary to accomplish the requirements of this position.
- Able to document and share processes.
