Job Description

Our client in the Farmington Hills, MI area is experiencing tremendous growth and is looking for an HR Generalist to join their team! This is a direct hire placement. The company offers outstanding benefits including, health benefits, 401K with a company match, PTO, and paid holidays, etc.


The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Accounting, or relevant discipline and 3-5 years of experience. Previous experience in processing payroll is a requirement. The HR Generalist will oversee the processing of the company’s weekly payroll using Paycor software.

The HR Generalist will:

  • Process and track all Friend of the Courts (FOC) garnishments including insurance Part B responses, periodic garnishments, and tax levies.

  • Process and verify monthly insurance billings, process new enrollments with all insurance carriers, salary changes, address changes, etc. 

  • Process all Worker’s Compensation Claims, file reports directly with the insurance carrier when a recordable case occurs. Track and maintain an annual injury log for year-end reporting. 

  • Process all weekly and monthly union reports.

  • Conduct new employee orientation; review the employee handbook to explain the Company’s policies and procedures, distribute insurance information, safety plan and properly introduce the company’s culture.

     Job Close Out Documentation
     Provide insurance carrier all OCIP payroll for credit when audited annually

    Administer Medical Open enrollment
     Work with broker regarding renewal rates
     Create new enrollment packets
     Collect all enrollment forms and waivers
     Process changes

  • Maintain confidential and personnel files for all employees. File necessary paperwork in the employees files.

    Monitor employees’ vacation & sick/personal time available, generate a monthly report indicating the company’s liability – provide accounting the department breakdown. Maintain the “Vacation” outlook calendar, process requests when received; send email to manager for approval.

    Building maintenance – receive quotes for lawn, snow removal, and janitorial services. Work with landlord when building issues arise.

    Oversee engagement programs and other employee involvement activities.
     Anniversary lunch recognitions
     Pot-lucks
     Retirement lunches
     Arrange holiday charitable donations; Toys for Tots, canned food drives, sponsor families in need

  • Create new ways to measure employee morale and determine methods for improving overall employee satisfaction.

  • Accounts payable; process invoices, RMA’s, follow-up on “problem” issues.

  • Enter weekly technician timesheets into the accounting software to properly allocate hours to specific jobs.

  • Record weekly payroll and payroll taxes journal entry into the accounting software.

  • Record monthly vacation accrual and 401k match into the accounting software.
