The HR Generalist plays a key role in managing and supporting various human resources functions. In this role, you will manage a variety of HR functions, including benefits administration, employee relations, and compliance. You will play a key role in ensuring our HR operations run smoothly and efficiently, while also contributing to the development and implementation of strategic HR initiatives. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a thorough understanding of HR best practices, and the ability to handle multiple tasks with discretion and accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of HR tasks related to benefits, employee relations, performance management, compensation, training and development.
- Assist with HR projects and initiatives that enhance employee engagement and organizational effectiveness.
- Maintain and update electronic employment records along with information in the HRIS, including salary changes, titles, and status updates.
- Maintain accurate employment and benefits records and data within HR systems, including benefit changes such as qualifying life events and employment updates including salary, title, and status changes.
- Participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Manage and perform onboarding and offboarding processes, including conducting new hire orientation and exit interviews.
- Provide guidance and support to employees regarding benefit enrollments, benefit issues, leave administration, and HRIS inquiries, ensuring timely and effective resolutions.
- Manage all aspects of benefits administration, including communication with vendors and carriers, as well as facilitating open enrollment processes and communication.
- Administer and oversee leave of absence, workers compensation claims reasonable accommodations ensuring proper documentation and compliance.
- Ensure compliance with federal, multiple state, and local employment laws, regulations, and best practices; review policies and practices to maintain legal compliance.
- Ensure compliance with annual reporting requirements, including EEO-1 and OSHA, by accurately completing and submitting forms on time.
- Maintain and update employee handbooks, HR policies, and procedures to ensure compliance and consistency.
- Collaborate with our benefits broker and vendors to build strong relationships, ensuring efficient communication and effective benefits administration.
- Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, such as anti-harassment training.
- Manage the wellness program, developing initiatives to promote employee well-being.
- Complete employment verifications.
- 4+ years of experience in an HR Generalist role, with a strong focus on benefits and compliance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of employment-related laws, regulations and HR best practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- High-level customer service skills and a solutions-oriented approach.
- Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Proven ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take initiative
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Experience with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- SHRM-CP certification is a plus.
Hybrid Work Schedule
3 days a week in the office, 2 days' working from home
New York Pay Rate $80,000.00 - $100,000.00
