We have an opportunity for a motivated and people-oriented HR Generalist who thrives in a high- paced environment and is committed to excellence in HR operations.

Summary

The HR Generalist is accountable for daily management of HR operations including accurate payroll processing, and provides support across recruiting, onboarding, benefits, employee relations, and compliance. The ideal candidate combines strong attention to detail with a proactive, responsive approach and thrives in an on‑site, hands‑on work environment.

Essential functions:

Payroll 

  • Process weekly and bi‑weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees with a high degree of accuracy and compliance.
  • Review timekeeping data; resolve discrepancies with supervisors.
  • Maintain payroll and employee records, including wages, deductions, benefits, leave, and status changes.
  • Administer benefit deductions, garnishments, and leaves of absence.
  • Support payroll audits, reporting, and process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws.

Employee & Manager Support

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for HR policies, procedures, and benefits.
  • Provide administrative support for corrective actions, employee relations documentation, and case tracking.
  • Escalate complex or sensitive matters to the HR Manager as needed.

Recruiting, Onboarding & Records

  • Support the full recruiting process including job postings, applicant tracking, screening, and interviewing. 
  • Coordinate and administer new hire onboarding, including offer letters, orientations, and system access.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential personnel files and HRIS records.

Benefits, Leave, Training & Compliance

  • Administer benefits enrollments, changes, Open Enrollment support, and invoice reconciliation.
  • Manage requests for FMLA, Connecticut Paid Leave, and other types of leaves.
  •  Manage end to end Worker's Compensation cases. 
  • Coordinate required training, certifications, and compliance documentation.

Reporting, Safety & Engagement

  • Prepare HR reports including OSHA, attendance, and compliance logs.
  • Participate in the Safety Committee.
  • Support employee engagement and recognition initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a relevant field
  • 3- 5 years of progressive HR experience, demonstrating increasing responsibility across core HR functions.
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive information with discretion, maintaining the highest levels of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Hands-on payroll processing experience, with the ability to manage payroll activities accurately and meet strict deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of FLSA regulations, wage and hour requirements, with the ability to apply regulations consistently and effectively.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage competing priorities, and perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to interact professionally with both office-based and production employees.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency with, or the ability to quickly learn, HRIS and talent management systems.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on process efficiency, consistency, and accuracy.
  • Valid Driver's Licence.

Preferred Qualifications

  • HR experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Experience using ADP for HRIS and Payroll.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing-specific overtime rules, shift differentials, and premium pay practices.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish.
  • Experience assisting with process documentation, audits, reporting, or continuous improvement initiatives.

Work Environment 

This position operates in a professional office environment, and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, scanners, printers. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Able to traverse the entire production and occasional floor presence for meetings or employee support. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times. 

Travel Requirements: minimal, local, such as our warehouse facility in the same town but not limited to.

Pay Range:

The range for this position is between $29- $ 35 hourly. The actual range will depend on varying circumstances and individualized factors, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
