HR Generalist I / Recruiter

Atalco Gramercy Operations is the leading producer of Alumina in the United States. Our Gramercy refinery produces 1.2 million tons a year of smelter grade alumina (SGA) for the production of aluminum as well as chemical grade alumina (CGA) which is used in a wide array of industrial applications.

Job Summary/Objective

Responsible for applying business and human resources knowledge. Supports departments by implementing human resources programs.

Essential Functions

• Completes special projects by clarifying project objective; setting timetables and schedules; conducting research; developing and organizing information; fulfilling
• Responsible for recruitment of salaried and hourly personnel.
• Creates job descriptions and classifies positions under FLSA standards.
• Supports the HR department in implementing programs to help improve the employee experience and increase engagement
• Back up Labor Relation Manager on collective bargaining agreement [CBA].
• Provides support to HR team
• Engages and participates in employee events sponsored by the Company.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

 Required Qualifications
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business, or Organization Development with supplemental course works in Human Resources or related field. 

Three to five years of Recruiting or Labor Relations experience is preferred.

Physical Demands

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
