The Neil Jones Food Company is an industry leader, processing superior quality fresh-packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.


We are looking for an HR Generalist that will be responsible for sourcing, recruiting, screening, and interviewing candidates for plant and corporate roles. Partners with internal stakeholders and external sources to fill technical, operations, and management positions. Develops targeted recruiting strategies for hard-to-fill roles, collaborates with management to forecast staffing needs, and leads the development of companywide compliance training programs. Supports leadership training and succession planning. Responsibilities include designing training materials, coaching employees, and tracking compliance.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Attracts and sources qualified applicants through job postings, direct sourcing, and talent pipeline development.
  • Screens, interviews, and evaluates candidates by assessing qualifications, verifying references, and aligning skills with job requirements; coordinates the interview process with hiring managers, including scheduling and managing relocation logistics as needed.
  • Builds and maintains applicant sources through partnerships with community organizations, educational institutions, industry contacts, recruiters, media, and online platforms, while managing relationships with external recruiters and staffing agencies as needed to support hiring needs and control costs.
  • Maintains knowledge of employment laws and hiring regulations and advises on compliant recruitment and hiring practices.
  • Researches, evaluates, and recommends recruitment strategies and sourcing channels to improve hiring effectiveness; consults with hiring managers on selection strategies, develops interview tools, and provides training on interviewing and hiring best practices; tracks and analyzes recruiting metrics and retention data to drive continuous improvement.

 

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field; or any combination of education, experience and training that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the key responsibilities of this position.
  • 5+ years’ recruiting experience preferred; certification in PHR or SPHR certification preferred.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, applicant tracking systems (ATS), and recruitment software tools, with knowledge of and the ability to apply HR standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, background check including employment and educational verification, credit screen, and to work extended schedule during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October. 

 

Compensation: 

The wage range is $81,000 - $90,000, based on experience and qualifications.
