Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled HR Generalist with a background in talent acquisition and marketing administration/communications to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a construction and/or mining industry background and will be responsible for managing the full recruitment cycle, participating in employee relations, marketing administration/communication and various HR and non-HR related functions. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Talent Acquisition:
    • Collaborate with hiring managers to understand and plan for staffing needs and job requirements.
    • Collaborate and create job sourcing plans to hire laborers, skilled craftspeople and mine operations personnel in both urban and remote locations and engage recruitment strategies to attract top talent.
    • Manage the full recruitment cycle, including the creation of job postings, screening, interviewing, and onboarding.
    • Maintain a pipeline of qualified candidates for future openings.
  • HR Generalist Duties:
    • Administer HR policies and procedures.
    • Occasionally manage employee relations issues and provide recommendations to the HR Director and guidance with leadership.
    • Conduct new employee orientations and ensure smooth onboarding and offboarding processes.
    • Assist with performance management and employee development initiatives.
    • Maintain accurate employee records and HR databases that include occasional benefits processing.
    • Assist with audits and other compliance-related activities.
    • Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations.
  • Marketing Administration/Communications:
    • Coordinate marketing communication material including digital, print, and other initiatives.
    • Organize and manage marketing materials for brochures and events that align with the company strategy.
    • Gather and analyze data and trends, customer preferences and use the insights for company effectiveness.


Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Industry Knowledge:
    • Understanding of the construction and/or mining industry, including common roles and skill sets.
    • Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and safety standards.
  • HR Expertise:
    • Good knowledge of HR principles, practices, and procedures.
    • Experience with talent acquisition, recruitment processes, benefits processing activities.
    • Ability to manage employee relations and conflict resolution.
    • Efficiency in benefits processing.
  • Communication Skills:
    • Excellent verbal and written marketing communication skills.
    • Ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Organizational Skills:
    • Strong organizational, accurate and time management skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously function with non-HR business requirements.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in HR software and applicant tracking systems.
    • Competence in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Software usage with Content Management Systems (CMS), email marketing tools, graphic design applications, and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems helpful.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in HR, with a focus on talent acquisition, benefits processing, and HRIS input for a small company.
  • Experience in the construction and/or mining industry is preferred.
  • HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel for out-of-town projects and other company locations to perform occasional onsite duties.  Overnights may be required up to 10% of the time.
