The Human Resources Manager develops and administers policies relating to all phases of human resources activities, procedures, and programs. The HR Manager carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: Employee Relations, Recruitment, Compensation, and Performance Management.

What you have  

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent in Human Resources, Business or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • 3-5 years of experience in a Human Resources Generalist/Manager role or working knowledge of HR laws and regulations preferred.

  • Previous experience in HR concentration areas such as benefits; compensation; workforce planning and employment; employee relations; safety and security; strategic management; employee development; and training.

  • Previous hotel and/or office administrative experience required.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Basic competence in duties and tasks of supervised employees.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds. This includes having the ability to influence management when appropriate.

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

  • Strong business acumen.

  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to prepare reports and company-wide business correspondence.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs a must, Marriott systems a plus

  • PHR or SHRM-CP preferred but not required.

  • Bilingual skills a plus.

 What you’ll do  

  • Administers company-wide human resources policies, procedures, and practices in accordance with stated corporate objectives and federal and state legal requirements.

  • Promotes positive employee relations through design, communication, and interpretation of human resources policies and programs.

  • Coordinates recruiting and retention strategies and succession planning process.

  • Coordinates exit interview process and communication of findings to management.

  • Analyzes data, prepares reports, and makes recommendations on a variety of human resources initiatives.

  • Administers compensation systems, diversity and benefit programs.

  • Coordinates performance management process to align staff with operational objectives and core values and ensure organizational success and development.

  • Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.

  • Coordinates employee-relations activities and programs including but not limited to employee counseling, interpretation of policies, new employee orientation, and employee recognition programs.

  • Manage basic employee relations issues and complaints in conjunction with HR Coordinators and escalates to outside professionals as appropriate.

  • Monitors human resources budget.

  • Review compensation within our markets

  • Ensure that HR recordkeeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies.

  • Handle and track unemployment cases through agency carrier

  • Coordinates annual OSHA reporting

  • Track workers’ compensation cases through agency carrier and identify trends and areas for improvement.

  • Ensure company-wide compliance with all state and federal laws.

  • Hires, trains, supervises, motivates, and develops human resources staff; manages schedules and workflow.

  • Provides day-to-day guidance and oversight of subordinates; actively works to promote and recognize performance.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directly supervises employees within the HR department.

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
