Description

The Human Resources Manager serves as both a strategic advisor and operational leader, responsible for delivering high-impact HR services across the organization. This role oversees core HR functions—including benefits administration (401(k) and ESOP), payroll, HR systems, compliance, employee relations, and performance management—with a focus on consistency, compliance, and employee experience.


Reporting directly to the Vice President of Human Resources and leading a team of three (two HR Partners and a Payroll Specialist), the HR Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping a culture where HR is seen as a proactive business partner. This leader empowers their team to deliver data-informed, innovative solutions that streamline operations, enhance engagement, and align with the company’s strategic goals.

Requirements

Strategic HR Leadership & Business Partnership

Collaborate with the VP of HR and business leaders to align HR initiatives with organizational goals.

Promote and model a partnership-oriented approach, ensuring HR is viewed as a trusted advisor.

Champion the adoption and optimization of HRIS and digital platforms to automate processes and enhance employee engagement.

Use HR analytics and digital tools to provide actionable insights and drive continuous improvement.


Benefits Administration

Administer all employee benefits, including 401(k), FMLA/Disability, Leave of Absences and ESOP, ensuring compliance, competitiveness, and effective communication.

Partner with vendors and advisors to optimize plan performance and employee experience.

Lead benefits education initiatives to maximize employee understanding and participation.

Ensure all HR and benefits programs comply with applicable laws and regulations (e.g., ACA, ERISA).

Monitor regulatory changes and update policies and practices as needed.


Technology & HR Systems

Serve as the lead administrator for the HRIS; optimize system functionality and reporting.

Automate and streamline HR processes through technology.

Integrate data across payroll, benefits, and talent systems for consistency and accuracy.


Core HR Operations

Oversee HR administrative functions including onboarding, offboarding, records management, Leave management  and policy updates.

Lead the annual performance management process and ensure system tools are fully utilized.

Maintain employee lifecycle documentation and ensure consistency in execution.

Support recruiting efforts, assist with onboarding processes, and help coordinate training initiatives to ensure a smooth and engaging new hire experience.


Employee Relations & Compliance

Act as an escalation point for employee relations issues, guide HR Partners on complex matters.

Conduct internal investigations and ensure proper documentation and resolution.

Monitor and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws.


Payroll & Workers' Compensation Oversight

Supervise payroll processing and workers’ compensation reporting via the Payroll Specialist.

Ensure accurate deductions, tax compliance, and reporting in coordination with Finance.

Support incident management and return-to-work processes in partnership with Safety.


Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field required; Master’s degree or HR certification (SPHR, SHRM-SCP, CEBS) preferred.

Bilingual is a plus

7+ years of progressive HR experience including benefits, employee relations, and payroll oversight.

Experience managing 401(k) and ESOP plans.

Strong systems orientation; experience with modern HRIS platforms and reporting tools.

Demonstrated leadership ability with a collaborative, solution-oriented mindset.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
