Description

Summary:  

The Human Resources Specialist supports the overall HR operations for a multi-property hotel management company. This role provides administrative and operational support across HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, HR compliance, benefits administration, and HRIS management.

The position works closely with corporate leadership and on-property management teams of assigned properties to ensure consistent HR practices and support positive employee experience across all hotel locations. Approximately 60% remote. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Administration

  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Manage HRIS data entry, updates, reporting, and file maintenance.
  • Coordinate HR communications and distribute policies, procedures, and employee updates.

Payroll/HRIS

  • Process Bi-Weekly payroll for assigned hotels
  • Create user logins and specific access to position, maintain access integrity and compliance with company PCI requirements.
  • Ensure access integrity and compliance with company PCI requirements.

Team Member Relations

  • Assist in administering an effective team member relations program in conjunction with the hotel general manager.
  • Foster a positive work climate and culture where team members feel respected and have opportunities for growth and development.
  • Ensure compliance with that all training programs according to company and brand standards.
  • Support team member recognition and incentive programs to drive performance and engagement.
  • Provide guidance on the annual performance review and feedback process in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Build collaborative relationships across the organization to facilitate information sharing and decision making.

Recruitment

  • Assist with recruiting efforts including job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, and preparation of offer letters.
  • Ensures compliance with Company required pre-employment processes including:
    • Reference checks
    • Background and/or credit checks based on position requirements
    • Drug testing
  • Coordinate new hire onboarding, orientation schedules, and onboarding documentation.
  • Ensure completion and compliance with all required new hire paperwork including I-9, tax forms, and policy acknowledgments.

Training

  • Partner with General Manager to ensure timely on-boarding and orientation of all team members, including but not limited to:
    • Legacy Ventures introduction
    • Brand standards and requirements
    • Position-specific training
  • Support team member learning and development by coaching, mentoring and career development initiatives.

Performance Management/Development

  • Assist with coordinating the company performance review process in collaboration with the General Manager.
    • Hourly – 45/90 day, annual (March/October)
    • Management – 90 day and annual (March)
  • Encourage team member motivation through effective communication, trust, advocacy and professionalism.

Risk Management

  • Assist General Manager and Corporate Human Resources with unemployment claims as needed to mitigate risk.
  • Ensure safety practices are communicated, documented and reinforced.
  • Promote safe work behaviors in accordance with company and brand safety policies
  • Monitor and report risk issues in compliance with company, insurance, and brand requirements.

Leave Management

  • Ensure compliance with government regulations and company policies regarding team member leave management.
  • Maintain required documentation and tracking.

Education and/or Experience: HR Certification, College degree preferred. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other associates of the organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
