The Human Resources Assistant assists with the administration of the day-to-day operations of the human resources functions and duties. The HR Assistant carries out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: departmental development, HRIS, employee relations, training and development, benefits, and employment. This is an entry level position, Full-Time. This is an office position and is not a remote work position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform the Human Resources Assistant job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. These requirements are representative, but not all-inclusive for skills and abilities required of the Human Resources Assistant.

  • Assisting with employee relations

  • Company employee communication

  • Assisting with the day-to-day efficient operation of the HR office.

  • Assisting with FMLA, LOA, ADA and Worker Compensation record keeping.

  • Prepares employee paperwork and maintains reports

  • Participates in department staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars as necessary and to represent the department

  • Data entry into the HRIS database

  • Keeps employee records up to date by processing Workday tasks in a timely manner

  • Processes changes, and terminations of employee records

  • Assists employees with general HR issues or concerns

  • Assist with recruitment and onboarding

  • Auditing new hire records monthly to ensure compliance

  • Answering main telephone line into the department, checking voicemail

  • Copying, mailing, scanning records for HR department

  • Completing employment verifications, maintain spreadsheet

  • Assumes other duties as assigned by the manager and/or the HR Director

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • An Associates or bachelor’s degree a plus

  • Workday experience a plus

  • General office experience a plus

  • General knowledge of various employment laws and practices a plus

  • Experience in administration of benefits and other HR programs a plus

Computer/Equipment Skills:

  • Excellent computer skills, including Word and Excel in a Microsoft Windows environment

  • Skills in data entry and record keeping

  • Office equipment: fax/copier, telephone

Environmental Factors/Physical Demands:

Work is performed in an office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have the ability to maintain active customer and employee communication; access, input and retrieve information from the computer system; enter alpha-numeric data into a computerized system often while listening on the telephone. May be subject to bending, reaching, kneeling, stooping, lifting up to thirty (30) pounds and sitting for much of the time.
