Description

DeWitt seeks an organized and service-oriented Human Resources Assistant to support the day-to-day operations of our HR team. This role is ideal for someone early in their HR career who enjoys administrative coordination, recruiting support, and employee interaction, and is eager to grow within the HR function. The ideal candidate brings a high level of professionalism, discretion, and a strong commitment to providing excellent service to employees and candidates.

Key Responsibilities

HR Operations & Administrative Support

  • Provide administrative support to the HR team, including document preparation, data entry, and maintaining accurate and confidential employee records
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring a smooth, professional, and welcoming experience
  • Maintain HR systems and ensure accuracy and integrity of employee information
  • Help coordinate HR programs, training, and internal initiatives

Recruiting & Talent Coordination

  • Conduct initial phone screens to assess candidate qualifications and overall fit
  • Schedule interviews and manage candidate communications in a timely and professional manner
  • Partner with hiring managers and the HR team to ensure a seamless and positive candidate experience
  • Assist with job postings and applicant tracking

Employee Support

  • Serve as a first point of contact for employee questions, providing responsive, courteous support and directing inquiries appropriately
  • Support benefits enrollment and general HR inquiries with a service-oriented approach
  • Handle sensitive employee information with a high degree of confidentiality and discretion
  • Help reinforce a positive employee experience through thoughtful and professional communication

Payroll Support

  • Assist with payroll processing activities, including data entry, timekeeping review, and audit support
  • Help ensure accuracy of employee information impacting payroll (e.g., status changes, compensation updates)
  • Partner with HR and Finance to resolve payroll-related questions or discrepancies
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and attention to detail when handling payroll information

Employee Benefits Support

  • Partner with third-party vendors and brokers to manage day-to-day relationships, acting as a liaison between internal employees and benefit providers.
  • Administer FMLA process, including tracking intermittent/continuous leave and sending all required regulatory notices, and guiding employees through the FMLA process


Qualifications
  • 0–3 years of experience in HR, recruiting, payroll, or administrative support
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-service mindset
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
  • Interest in developing a career in Human Resources
  • Experience with Paycom or other HRIS software is a plus.
