Clay County is seeking a detail-oriented and highly professional Human Resources Assistant to provide essential administrative and clerical support to our Human Resources Department. This role operates in a highly confidential capacity, performing work of moderate difficulty within public sector human resources, payroll, benefits administration, wellness, and risk management.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver dedicated to providing exemplary customer service to our employees while maintaining the highest standards of integrity.
Primary Responsibilities
Create, compose, and edit complex correspondence, memoranda, charts, and reports; ensure all materials are accurate and complete.
Serve as the first point of contact for the HR Department, managing phone inquiries and greeting guests with professionalism.
Provide guidance to new and existing employees regarding HR questions and concerns.
Plan and execute health-related activities, including health screenings, nutrition programs, seminars, and annual health fairs.
Develop initiatives to improve employee mental, emotional, and physical health, prioritizing overall wellness and ROI.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Exceptional written and oral communication skills; ability to speak, read, and understand English fluently.
Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe, SurveyMonkey, Canva and database management.
Demonstrated empathy, initiative, and adaptability in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and work independently without direct supervision.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to make sound business decisions.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by specialized coursework in office practices, accounting, or bookkeeping.
1–3 years of increasingly responsible experience in Human Resources or a related field.
A reputation for honesty and trustworthiness; must pass a background check
Valid state driver’s license.
Desired Qualifications
Prior experience in public sector employment or government HR.
