Description

FireTron, Inc. is seeking a motivated Human Resources Assistant looking to grow their HR career. The Human Resources Assistant provides essential administrative and operational support to the HR department, ensuring smooth day-to-day processes related to compliance, employee records, payroll support, benefits administration, and engagement. This role works closely with Safety and Payroll Departments to maintain accurate records, support company programs, and ensure timely processing of HR- and payroll-related tasks.


HR Records and Compliance Support

  • Maintain accurate employee records, including personal data, and payroll-related information.
  • Track and maintain employee and company licenses and permits.
  • Manage fingerprinting requirements.
  • Process employee screenings for badges and related tasks.

Safety Coordination

  • Collaborate with the Safety Department to maintain accurate employee training records and certifications.
  • Maintain accurate driver records and monitor system notifications to ensure compliance and timely updates.

Payroll Support

  • Receive, review, and process child support and wage garnishment orders.
  • Accurately enter payroll earnings and deductions and maintain detailed records to ensure compliance with applicable laws and court orders.
  • Ensure payroll changes—including new hires, terminations, pay rate updates, deductions, and status changes—are accurately processed and submitted on time.
  • Address basic payroll-related inquiries from employees and assist in resolving discrepancies in coordination with HR and Payroll.

Benefits Support

  • Support employee benefits processes, including enrollments, Qualifying Life Events (QLEs), and benefit terminations.
  • Respond to employee benefits inquiries and assist with documentation and follow-up as needed.
  • Conduct routine benefits audits and assist Accounts Payable with related billing.

HR Support and Employee Engagement

  • Support HR initiatives aimed at promoting a positive workplace culture.
  • Assist with employee engagement activities, wellness events, and recognition programs.
  • Help coordinate HR-related meetings, events, and employee programs.

Administrative and Operational Support

  • Code invoices for HR-related expenses such as drug screenings and uniforms.
  • Maintain uniform inventory; send links and codes to new hires and current employees needing refreshes.
  • Perform administrative tasks to support the HR team as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Human Resources Director.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred).
  • 2+ years of experience in HR or payroll support.
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail, particularly with employee records, payroll changes, and compliance documentation.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and ability to learn HRIS.
  • Ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and follow established procedures under direction.=

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coursework or degree emphasis in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • SHRM or PHR Certification
  • Experience supporting payroll processing, garnishments, benefits administration, or compliance tracking.
  • Familiarity with HRIS or payroll systems.
  • Experience working in a regulated or compliance-driven environment.

Compensation & Benefits 

  • Pay Range: $20-$23 per hour based on experience.
