The Human Resource Assistant supports the Human Resources department at DARRAN Furniture with a strong emphasis on employee engagement, workplace culture, onboarding, and employee support. This role helps create a positive and connected employee experience by assisting with recruiting coordination, onboarding, employee communications, HR recordkeeping, benefits support, and culture-building initiatives. The ideal candidate is organized, people-focused, creative, detail-oriented, and passionate about helping foster an engaging workplace environment while maintaining confidentiality in all HR matters.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Maintain and update employee records in digital and physical files, ensuring accuracy, organization, and confidentiality.
- Support recruiting efforts by posting job advertisements, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, tracking applicants, and assisting with candidate communication throughout the hiring process.
- Assist with onboarding new hires by preparing onboarding materials, scheduling orientation, processing I-9 documentation, and helping create a welcoming and engaging new hire experience.
- Use Paycom to support HR processes including employee data management, onboarding workflows, timekeeping support, and personnel updates.
- Process HR forms and transactions such as new hire packets, employee status changes, and benefits enrollments.
- Respond to employee questions regarding HR policies, procedures, benefits, and general workplace matters in a timely and professional manner.
- Support benefits administration by tracking enrollments, eligibility, and assisting with basic benefits-related questions.
- Partner with department supervisors and managers to support staffing needs, employee communication, and team engagement efforts.
- Help lead and support employee engagement initiatives that enhance workplace culture, strengthen employee connection, and promote a positive employee experience.
- Assist in planning and coordinating employee events, recognition programs, celebrations, wellness initiatives, and internal engagement activities.
- Support and help lead the Culture Committee, contributing ideas and coordination for programs that build morale, encourage collaboration, and reinforce DARRAN Furniture’s values.
- Create visually engaging internal communications, presentations, flyers, announcements, and event materials using Canva.
- Use ChatGPT and similar tools to help draft internal communications, engagement materials, onboarding content, recognition messaging, and other employee-facing resources.
- Help communicate HR and culture-related initiatives in a clear, upbeat, and employee-centered manner.
- Ensure HR files, systems, and databases remain compliant with company policy and applicable regulations.
- Perform general administrative support tasks related to HR operations as needed.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all employee and company information.

- Familiarity with HR processes, employment practices, and basic employment law.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience using Paycom or similar HRIS platforms preferred.
- Experience using Canva to create employee communications and engagement materials preferred.
- Comfort using ChatGPT and similar AI tools to improve communication, content creation, and HR efficiency.
- Ability to contribute creative ideas for employee engagement, recognition, and culture-building initiatives.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with managers and team members.
Education and Experience
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Communications, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of administrative, HR-related, or employee support experience required.
- Experience with applicant tracking systems, onboarding, or HRIS platforms preferred.
- Experience supporting employee engagement programs, workplace events, or culture initiatives strongly preferred.
- Experience leading or supporting a Culture Committee is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Prolonged periods of walking through the factories.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
