The HR Assistant role is responsible for maintaining accurate employee records and provide administrative support to the Human Resources team. This role supports benefits paperwork, employee communications, and leave of absence documentation, while delivering friendly and timely assistance to employees. The HR Assistant plays an important role in keeping HR processes organized, compliant, and running efficiently. This is a part-time onsite position.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
General HR Support
· Assist employees by providing friendly and timely support.
· Maintain personnel files and confidential HR documents.
· Assist with new hire onboarding tasks, including paperwork and orientation scheduling.
· Perform data entry and updates in the HRIS; verify accuracy of information.
· Support HR inbox and respond to questions or direct inquiries to the appropriate team member.
Benefits Administration Support
· Provide employees with benefit enrollment instructions and resources.
· Assist with collecting and submitting benefit forms and status change documentation.
· Support annual open enrollment tasks (communication materials, scheduling sessions, etc.).
· Help verify benefit deductions, eligibility, and related documentation for accuracy.
Leave of Absence Coordination Support
· Assist with intake of leave of absence requests (FMLA, personal leaves, etc.).
· Provide employees with required forms and instructions.
· Track paperwork and follow up to ensure forms are returned on time.
· Maintain leave tracking spreadsheets and update HRIS records as directed.
Employee Communications & HR Engagement
· Post HR announcements both digitally and on on-site communication boards.
· Assist with drafting simple employee notices, reminders, and engagement updates.
· Support planning of HR-led employee activities, appreciation days, wellness initiatives and involvement with various charitable organizations.
· Coordinates training as needed in the area interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance review, safety, and sexual harassment.
· Responds to unemployment claims, requests for employment verifications and other requests as they arise.
· Other duties as assigned.
