Pay Transparency: This position’s annual pay range is $109K - $125K DOE.

Job Summary:
The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is a mission-driven, equity-centered leader who partners closely with staff and leadership to advance the organization’s commitment to anti-racism, social justice, and belonging. This role aligns people strategies with programmatic and operational goals through a trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and inclusive approach to employee relations, performance management, workforce planning, and organizational development. Beyond core HR operations, the HRBP serves as a trusted advisor and thought partner—working to dismantle systemic inequities, promote psychological safety, embed equitable practices across people systems, and strengthen an organizational culture rooted in dignity, accountability, and care in service of the communities we support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as a strategic business partner to leaders by understanding departmental goals, workforce needs, and operational challenges, and translate these insights into proactive HR solutions.
- Provide expert consultation on employee relations matters, ensuring equitable practices, policy alignment, and constructive conflict resolution.
- Oversee and improve core HR operations, including onboarding, offboarding, and employee record management, ensuring high-quality and compliant processes.
- Interpret and apply employment laws and organizational policies; anticipate compliance risks and guide leaders in risk mitigation and best practices.
- Strengthen manager capability by coaching leaders in recruitment strategies, job design, interviewing, and selection processes.
- Partner with leaders to deliver an engaging and structured onboarding experience.
- Work with departments to ensure departmental training programs provide a robust process for new-hire integration.
- Support performance management cycles by coaching managers on goal setting, feedback, performance improvement, and accountability.
- Identify organizational talent gaps and collaborate on training, development, and learning initiatives to build employee capability and support career growth.
- Build trusting relationships with employees to promote a healthy, productive workplace culture and strong employee engagement.
- Manage FMLA, WPFML, ADA, Worker’s Compensation, and other forms of leave.
- Respond to unemployment claims.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics at all times.
- Provide HR insights, reporting, and analytics to support decision-making and organizational planning.
- Partner with the CHRO in implementing the organization’s equity initiatives.
- Participate in cross-functional initiatives aimed at enhancing employee experience, workflow efficiency, and organizational culture.
- Perform additional strategic or operational duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- 5–7 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a generalist or HRBP role.
- Strong knowledge of HR best practices, labor laws, and compliance frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to consult with and influence leaders at all levels.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with HRIS platforms; Paylocity experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 tools, including Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Teams.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to partner strategically with leaders, applying business acumen to HR decision-making.
- Strong capability in full-cycle recruitment and talent planning, ensuring a positive and equitable candidate and employee experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing HR policies and organizational practices that support business goals.
- Ability to conduct employee investigations and document results.
- Strong employee relations skills, with the ability to navigate complex and sensitive situations with professionalism and fairness.
- Ability to analyze data and synthesize HR metrics into actionable recommendations for leaders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage confidential employee data with care and in compliance with privacy standards.
- Understanding of emerging employment laws and ability to guide organizational compliance.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work across teams to enhance HR services, processes, and employee capacity.
- Proven competencies in racial equity, social justice, and employee well-being.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position; Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.
- Must reside within Washington State to meet workplace reporting requirements.
