SUMMARY OF POSITION:

UBE Corporation is building a new, state of the art Dimethyl Carbonate / Ethyl methyl Carbonate production plant as a tenant in Waggaman, Louisiana. We are seeking a hands-on HR Business Partner that will work alongside the operations team and will be a champion of change management & organizational development. The HRBP will play a key role in aligning business objectives with employee management and talent development, ensuring the company’s culture, performance, and compliance standards are consistently upheld.

Requirements

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:


HR Strategy & Business Partnership:

  • Partner with leadership to align HR strategies with business goals and objectives.
  • Provide proactive HR solutions to address organizational challenges in the manufacturing environment.
  • Advise managers on people-related issues, including employee relations, performance management, and organizational changes.

Employee Relations:

  • Act as a trusted advisor to management and employees, providing guidance on conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and other employee relations issues.
  • Ensure a positive and inclusive work environment that fosters open communication and teamwork.
  • Investigate and resolve employee concerns in a timely and confidential manner.

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning:

  • Collaborate with internal and external recruitment teams to drive hiring initiatives, ensuring the workforce has the required skills for both current and future business needs.
  • Oversee the onboarding process, ensuring new hires are integrated into the culture of the organization effectively.

Training & Development:

  • Identify training and development needs for employees and managers, and coordinate or deliver relevant training programs by partnering with internal and external training experts.
  • Support career development and succession planning initiatives to build and maintain a high-performing workforce.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements through training programs related to safety, ethics, and compliance.

Performance Management:

  • Implement performance management  systems and processes to drive employee productivity and engagement.
  • Provide guidance to managers on goal setting, performance reviews, and the development of action plans for      underperforming employees.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Work with leadership to ensure compensation programs are competitive and aligned with the organization’s compensation philosophy.
  • Assist employees in understanding and utilizing benefits programs.
  • Monitor labor costs and recommend changes where appropriate to maintain workforce efficiency.

Health & Safety:

  • Promote a culture of safety and well-being within the workplace.

HR Metrics & Reporting:

  • Monitor and report on key HR metrics such as turnover, retention, absenteeism, and employee engagement.
  • Provide actionable insights to leadership based on HR data and trends.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives through data analysis and feedback.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of HR experience, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing environment (chemical manufacturing experience is a plus).
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations, particularly within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track record of driving organizational change, employee development, and business transformation.
  • Experience with talent acquisition, performance management, and employee relations in a high-paced, unionized or non-unionized manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and manage relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS (Human Resource Information System).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in HR (SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar certifications).
  • Experience working in both union and non-unionized chemical manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other safety regulations specific to the chemical manufacturing industry

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to navigate the manufacturing facility, which may include walking and standing for extended periods.
  • Work is primarily performed in an office environment but will require occasional visits to the manufacturing floor.
