Human Resource Business Partner

General Statement of Duties
In coordination with the Director of Human Resources, this position provides human resources consultation and day-to-day support to designated business units. The HR Business Partner applies knowledge across core HR functions, collaborates closely with employees and leaders, and provides HR guidance and mentorship as needed. The role maintains a strong working knowledge of employment-related legal requirements to reduce risk and ensure compliance. This position is primarily administrative and works under the direct supervision of the Director of Human Resources.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This role supports day-to-day HR operations—including recruitment, onboarding, compensation and benefits administration, employee relations, performance management, training, and regulatory compliance—while also providing general office administrative support as needed. Additionally:
- Exhibit the core values of the company and contribute to building and supporting the culture of the organization.
- Work alongside the recruiting process to include managing applicants from submission of application through the selection and placement processes.
- Coordinate and assist in the delivery of a seamless onboarding experience for new hires—partnering with managers and supervisors, leading new-employee orientation and related onboarding processes as needed to ensure a positive, informative first day and successful assimilation.
- Assist in the maintenance of Personnel Files, I-9s, DOT and medical files.
- Partner with leaders in the planning process to ensure strategic plans drive business results, optimize customer service, and align with company values.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and consultation regarding leading people and organizational management practices to develop site people leaders.
- Assist in managing the company performance management process, coordinate, and compose performance management documentation.
- Promotes adoption and effective use of company programs such as reward, recognition, talent, and communication programs.
- Contributes to the development of people strategies that support business strategies and objectives and help to drive business and organizational performance.
- Address and resolve employee concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist in the administration of compliance processes for HR and Safety laws including equal employment, affirmative action, ADA, FMLA, COBRA, OSHA, DOT, workers compensation and other relevant employment laws.
- Work cooperatively with the Director of Human Resources to assist with office administrative duties and functions as necessary.
- Must be able to fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- High School or GED equivalent required.
- 3+ years of relevant HR experience required, PHR and/or SHRM-CP strongly preferred.
- Ability to follow directions and with necessary attention to detail.
- Experience with Paycom or other HRIS system preferred.
- Demonstrate history of successful hiring including recruiting, interviewing, and retention.
- Must be comfortable with regular public speaking
- Demonstrate knowledge of laws and regulations related to human resource management.
- Approachable, flexible, collaborative self-starter with a passion for organization, policies and procedures, and risk mitigation
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to inform decision-making.
- A passion for creating positive, inclusive, and high-performing work environments.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively operate a variety of software programs related to the technical competencies of this position, proficient skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Demonstrate the ability to maintain professional relationships with internal and external clients while providing high levels of service by communicating clear and timely responses to issues, requests, problems, and regular reporting.
- Demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality and integrity.
- Demonstrate an ability to appropriately retain documentation and supportive materials for administrative actions.
- Demonstrate a sufficient ability to solve problems and manage multiple interruptions effectively as well as successfully function as a member of a team through communication while engaging in self-directed resourcefulness and analytical thinking.
QualificationsEssential Physical Abilities
- Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities which permits the employee to discern verbal instructions and communicate effectively with others in person and by telephone.
- Sufficient visual and mental acuity which permits the employee to comprehend written work instructions and make determination of necessary actions to take to meet the presentation standards for the facility.
- Sufficient manual dexterity which permits the employee to operate standard office equipment.
- Sufficient body mobility, flexibility, and agility to occasionally lift and carry objects up to 30 pounds, and to work in an office environment and requires sitting for long periods of time.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Full-time position working out of our Post Falls location; Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Must be available for holidays, weekends, and after hours as business needs dictate. Schedule may vary but workday can regularly exceed 10 hours. Employee is paid to complete the job regardless of the number of hours.
Travel
Minimal to Intermediate travel throughout area of responsibility is expected with this position. Overnight travel constitutes 30% of the time.
