SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) serves as a strategic partner to business leaders, aligning business objectives with employees and management. The HRBP acts as a consultant on human resource-related issues, providing guidance and support across staff development, employee relations, and performance management. 


The HRBP plays a vital role in supporting the mission of the YMCA by aligning human resources strategies with the organization’s values and program goals. This role acts as a trusted advisor to leadership, helping to foster a positive, inclusive, and mission-driven workplace culture. The HRBP assists in ensuring HR practices uphold equity, compliance, and long-term organizational sustainability.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Partner with Department leadership to align HR strategy with business goals.
  • Partner with senior leaders to understand programmatic goals and provide strategic HR guidance that supports mission delivery.
  • Handle all employee relations and performance management, in partnership with managers.
  • Site visits as required to speak with staff.
  • Support talent acquisition efforts; including assisting with setting up/tear down of hiring events as well as participating in hiring events when needed.
  • Lead employee engagement efforts, analyzing survey results and helping to implement action plans.
  • Provide coaching and development support to managers and team leads to strengthen leadership capabilities.
  • Champion Learning & Development: build out/formalize training & development
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations, and maintain knowledge of current HR trends and practices.
  • Reporting; Analyze HR metrics and provide insights and recommendations to improve performance, retention, and employee satisfaction.
  • Updating/creating SOP’s, policies, etc.
  • Drive change management initiatives, fostering a culture of agility and continuous improvement.
  • Creating & facilitating training on HR best practices
  • Assisting with setting up & maintaining Intranet
  • Back up for Benefit Specialist


QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, SPHR) is a plus.
  • 3+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a business partner or generalist capacity.
  • Strong understanding of HR best practices, including employee relations, performance management, and compliance with state child care regulation. 
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and consultative skills, with the ability to engage and support employees and leaders across all levels of the organization. 
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels; strong communication and influencing skills are essential for success in this role. 
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in a mission-driven environment with multiple stakeholders and limited resources is highly valued; familiarity with the unique dynamics of child-focused organizations is a strong plus. 
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple high-priority tasks in a fast-paced environment; strong organizational skills and adaptability are essential.
  • Ability to operate in both strategic and hands-on capacities in a lean organizational structure.
  • High emotional intelligence and a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to analyze HR metrics and use data for decision-making and process metrics.
  • Experience in training, facilitation and employee engagement programs. 
  • Passion for non-profit work and serving the community.

WORK SCHEDULE:

The schedule for this full-time position is generally Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, though work outside these days/hours will be required depending on the business need.
