Description

SUMMARY OF POSITION 

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring the Human Resource policies and practices to ensure support and assistance is provided to the employees of the manufacturing site and establish a connection with the Company’s overall business strategy and leaders.  This position will ensure the management activities are compliant with the collective bargaining agreement.  The Human Resources Manager promotes and encourages open and regular communications to strengthen the teamwork of the facility and will assist where necessary the other Northstar Aerospace facilities. This position is in Northstar’s Human Resource Department, and reports to the Vice President of Human Resources.  The position works with all levels of employees throughout the organization as necessary and directly supervises one other employee.  This is a full-time position.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Industrial Relations and employee relations
  • Recruitment, including new employee orientation
  • Compensation and Benefit program, including performance reviews and bonus plan program
  • Maintain a working knowledge of changes in Federal employment and labor laws as well as the State of Illinois and any impact on investigations and resolutions
  • Ability to recognize costs of settlements with the union while also recognizing both the precedent setting issues and costs to move forward into litigation and or arbitration
  • Union contract negotiation preparation
  • Manage labor relations program of organization: Analyze collective bargaining agreement to develop interpretation of intent, spirit, and terms of contract
  • Ability to anticipate staffing needs both hourly and salaried to support the Organization’s goals
  • Communications
  • Special Projects

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will direct the work of one other employee.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED                                              

Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in human resources, labor, business or related field

 

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • 10 years in a manufacturing environment, both unionized and union free
  • Experience in grievance, mediations, and arbitrations
  • Experience leading or as the 2nd chair in contract negotiations
  • Manufacturing HR experience
  • 4+ years supervising others
