Donlin Gold is recruiting several key Human Resources positions for one of the world’s largest undeveloped gold deposits, owned and operated by Donlin Gold LLC, a partnership between NOVAGOLD Resources and Paulson Advisers LLC. The Donlin Gold Project is designed to be one of only a handful of gold mines worldwide capable of producing more than one million ounces of gold annually.

Reporting to the HR Manager, the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) and HR Project Lead will be key positions supporting Donlin’s large-scale, long-term mining project in Alaska. These roles will provide senior-level HR support and partner closely with leadership to align business objectives with employees and management across designated business units.
Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP)
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a strategic partner to business and functional leaders, aligning HR strategies with project and operational objectives.
- Advise leadership on workforce planning, organizational design, succession planning, and change management initiatives.
- Anticipate human-capital needs and recommend proactive HR solutions to support long-term project goals.
- Provide consultative guidance to management on performance management, employee engagement, talent development, and retention strategies.
- Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues, including investigations, grievances, and corrective actions.
- Ensure consistent interpretation and application of HR policies, practices, and employment standards.
- Maintain strong knowledge of employment laws and regulatory requirements to mitigate risk and ensure compliance.
- Partner with legal, finance, and operations to align workforce strategies with business objectives.
- Support leadership through workforce analytics, trend analysis, and strategic reporting.
- Provide guidance on organizational restructuring, role changes, promotions, and transfers.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of progressive experience in a strategic, advisory, and leadership-facing Human Resources role, with demonstrated expertise in employee relations.
- SHRM certification preferred.
- Proficiency with HRIS platforms, including ADP, as well as the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong working knowledge of Human Resources principles, employment and labor laws, and regulatory compliance standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
HR Project Lead
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and administer HR programs and initiatives in support of long-term project milestones.
- Lead execution of workforce planning, recruiting, onboarding, and succession planning programs.
- Manage HR project timelines, deliverables, and dependencies to ensure on-time and effective implementation.
- Prepare HR reports, dashboards, and presentations for leadership and project stakeholders.
- Analyze HR data and metrics to assess program effectiveness and recommend process improvements.
- Develop and implement standardized HR processes, tools, and documentation to support project operations.
- Partner with HR functional teams to ensure consistent delivery of HR services and initiatives.
- Support organizational change initiatives and team transitions from a project execution perspective.
- Draft and coordinate employment terms related to new hires, promotions, transfers, and project assignments.
- Ensure day-to-day HR activities comply with applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of fifteen (15+) years of progressive Human Resources experience in execution-focused, program management, and delivery roles, including responsibility for employee relations and large-scale HR initiatives.
- SHRM certification preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of Human Resources principles, employment and labor laws, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a challenging environment.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).
These positions are based in the Anchorage office, and the selected candidates must be willing to travel to visit the Yukon-Kuskokwim region and Donlin Gold project site.
