Red Envelope is seeking a HR Business Partner (HRBP) to join an existing HR staff for a mid-sized organization on the northwest side of Indianapolis. This position will work on-site around 30 hours/week and is expected to be temporary for at least 3 months with the possibility of turning into a permanent role.


The HR Business Partner (HRBP) – Plant serves as a critical link between employees and management to foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and high performance. This role supports day-to-day HR operations, focusing on implementing and optimizing HR processes and ensuring employee satisfaction while aligning with the company’s strategic goals. The HRBP - Plant works closely with an HR Admin for first-level responses and reports to a Senior HRBP – Plant, who handles strategic initiatives and leadership advising.  

Requirements

 

Key Responsibilities 

HR Administration 

  • Attend and contribute to daily operations meetings 
  • Monitor employment laws and Human Rights codes to ensure organizational compliance 
  • Complete non-routine administrative tasks, including subpoenas, court orders, and EEO investigations 
  • Manage Affordable Care Act (ACA) updates in Dayforce and submit annual reports 
  • Finalize and submit EEO-1 reports annually; maintain updates monthly 
  • Develop and update policies to remain compliant and current 

Attract, Select, Retain 

  • Collaborate with hiring managers for intake calls to understand role requirements 
  • Post job openings in Dayforce, Indeed, and other sourcing platforms 
  • Identify and explore new opportunities to share job postings 
  • Partner with the Plant Manager to review and strategize staffing levels 
  • Communicate openings and feedback with staffing agency partners 
  • Respond to candidate reviews on Glassdoor and Indeed 
  • Recruit for all open positions below the Director level (posting, phone screening, interviewing, dispositioning, and making offers) 
  • Interview candidates for various roles across the organization 
  • Oversee the onboarding process, ensuring a seamless experience for new hires 
  • Partner with staffing agencies, providing regular feedback on candidate performance and experience 
  • Oversee the interview structure  
  • Ensure alignment with employer brand 
  • Support management with thorough scope of role and profile of ideal candidate 
  • Conduct monthly manager and supervisor touch-base meetings 
  • Partner with the Plant Manager to drive initiatives that enhance company culture 

Develop 

  • Create and deliver training materials for supervisors and managers. 
  • Partner with leadership to develop and implement succession plans 
  • Review and align performance review scores, submitting results to the Chief People Officer and subsequent development plans 
  • Provide coaching to managers for handling difficult conversations and employee relations 
  • Conduct annual reviews of job descriptions, ensuring alignment and employee signoffs 

Employee Relations 

  • Document employee grievances, investigate issues, and collaborate with managers on follow-up plans 
  • Review the progressive discipline process, provide proofing and guidance for creating corrective actions, disciplinary action write-ups, and PIPs 
  • Support the Senior HRBP during employee terminations 
  • Track and issue FMLA forms, including eligibility reviews and communication with managers. 

Total Rewards 

  • Spearheading local benefit strategy 
  • Organize and lead benefits open enrollment meetings 
  • Oversee and manage benefits administration, including troubleshooting issues and coordinating with vendors 
  • Manage tracking and approval processes for leave of absence requests, FMLA, and STD claims 
  • Review Affordable Care Act compliance and complete reporting as required 
  • Assist in benefits administration, including open enrollment processes, NH/QLE/OE approvals, and troubleshooting 
  • Partner with benefits carriers to reconcile invoice discrepancies 
  • Ensure proper setup and project monitoring for benefits file feeds 
  • Collaborate with brokerage firms on benefit renewals, rate discussions, and plan changes 
  • Provide guidance on compensation review procedures 
  • Manage annual merit cycle  

Systems 

  • Leverage Dayforce and other HRIS systems to streamline processes, including open enrollment, ACA updates, and benefits tracking 
  • Support annual audits and assist with the Responsible Sourcing Audit 
  • Ensure data accuracy in all HR systems 

Offboard 

  • Oversee the approval of processing terminations, ensuring compliance and consistency 
  • Conduct exit interviews and provide feedback to leadership 
  • Manage the review of progressive discipline and termination processes 

Operational People Efficiencies 

  • Lead and complete monthly safety meetings, integrating HR topics where applicable 
  • Partner with payroll to ensure proper reconciliation and processing 
  • Drive alignment with leadership to ensure all HR operations contribute to organizational goals 
  • Attend daily operations meetings to ensure HR is aligned with plant operations 

Skills and Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field 
  • 5+ years of experience in an HRBP role or similar 
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems (Dayforce experience preferred) 
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, benefits administration, and compliance standards 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities
