Description

Job purpose

The Human Resource Coordinator is an HR entry level position and is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with the FLS HR team,  senior HR management, and leaders at Furnitureland South in supporting HR functions of the company as well as initiating process improvements, efficiencies, and strategic visions. This position may carry out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, organizational development and learning, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, HRIS development, affirmative action, and employment law compliance.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  1. Support the HR department in various administrative tasks
  2. Assist with the recruitment process, including job postings, scheduling interviews, and completing the onboarding process in the HRIS
  3. Coordinate new hire onboarding activities, including preparing paperwork, facilitating orientation sessions, and ensuring a smooth and positive experience for new Associates
  4. Assist in planning Company events, training sessions, and other HR related initiatives to promote Associate engagement and development
  5. Respond to Associate inquiries 
  6. Plays a key role in bringing HR innovation and ideas to our organization
  7. Participates in developing department and company goals, objectives and systems.
  8. Assists in benefits administration, including communicating benefits information to employees.
  9. Stay updated on any emerging and relevant laws and regulations to ensure compliance in our practices and policies
  10. Assists in employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling and exit interviewing.
  11. Participates in staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
  12. Participate in career fairs both on campus and off campus
  13. Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
  14. Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database, ability to obtain and translate data into plan initiatives. 
  15. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
  16. Possible limited support of our Legal Department


Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited University in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite 

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. College level coursework in the studies of Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, etc.
  2. Proficiency/experience working with an HRIS system
  3. HR Professional certification (aPHR, PHR, SPHR, SHRM), etc.
  4. 1-3 years of HR experience
