Description

The Human Resources Coordinator supports the daily operations of the HR department within a retail convenience store environment. This role is responsible for assisting with recruitment, onboarding, training coordination, employee relations, compliance, and recordkeeping. The HR Coordinator plays a key role in fostering a positive work environment and ensuring that HR processes run smoothly in a high-volume, customer-facing business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with recruitment efforts including job postings, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and communicating with candidates.
  • Coordinate new hire onboarding and orientation, ensuring proper documentation and training completion.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in HRIS and personnel files.
  • Provide frontline HR support to store employees and managers on policy questions and day-to-day issues.
  • Track employee attendance, leaves of absence, and compliance with company policies.
  • Support employee relations activities, including investigations and performance documentation.
  • Coordinate and monitor training programs, certifications, and compliance requirements (e.g., alcohol/tobacco sales certifications).
  • Assist with payroll preparation by providing relevant data (absences, new hires, terminations, etc.).
  • Help implement and enforce company HR policies and procedures.
  • Support HR initiatives such as employee engagement, retention efforts, and diversity & inclusion programs.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 1–3 years of HR experience, preferably in a retail or high-volume service industry.
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, customer-focused retail environment.
  • Work Environment:

  • Primarily in-store and office setting.
  • May require occasional travel to other store locations.
  • Must be able to stand and walk periodically during store visits or onboarding.
