Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations and Support
- Serve as a collaborative partner to employees and leaders, providing responsive and timely guidance on broad range of HR topics such as benefits, leave of absence, performance management, and policies.
- Address employee concerns and partner with leadership and internal HR team to resolve issues effectively and in alignment with organizational goals and values.
- Conduct investigations and assist in preparing responses for EEOC and other agency inquiries.
- Conduct the interactive process with employees, advise on accommodation decisions and offer alternate options if applicable; follow up with all impacted parties on status and outcome of accommodation requests.
- Primary point of contact for Workers’ Compensation claims; maintain accurate records and coordinate with external vendor on management of claims.
- Daily monitoring of PPLHR inbox inquiries; answer questions and/or triage to the appropriate contacts.
Onboarding and Offboarding
- Facilitate the onboarding process, overseeing background check results, managing I9 verifications, and required pre-employment documentation, ensuring a smooth transition and warm welcome for new hires.
- Act as a primary point of contact for new hires, addressing questions and resolving inquiries during onboarding.
- Oversee the offboarding and exit interview processes to ensure a positive experience and compliance with company policies.
- Partner with the IT Support team to assist with any on/off boarding requests and clarification needed
Cross-HR Partnership
- Collaborate across all HR functions (i.e. recruitment, learning, compensation, and benefits) and operational teams to continuously improve the employee experience and ensure smooth operations in alignment with organizational objectives.
- Collaborate with learning and organizational effectiveness to identify and implement employee training and development initiatives.
- Work closely with the recruiting team to enhance candidate experience and support hiring efforts.
- Contribute to workforce communications and act as a resource for employees seeking information about HR programs and policies.
- Prepare for and actively support internal and external regulatory audits, ensuring compliance and improvement of HR operations.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of HR policies and procedures.
- Stay informed on employment laws and regulations, providing insights and recommendations to ensure compliance.
- Review requests in HRIS system around bereavement and jury duty (paid time off) requests to ensure adherence with PPL policy
- Assistance with ad hoc projects and audits as needed
HR Systems and Reporting
- Maintain accurate employee records in Workday and related systems, ensuring data integrity; process change requests within the HRIS system (i.e. report-to changes, input promotions, etc.)
- Generate and analyze HR metrics and reports, providing insights to support decision-making.
Required Skills:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities, with a focus on responsiveness, accuracy and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and a willingness to learn about new technologies as required.
- Analytical skillset with the ability to interpret data and draw actionable conclusions.
- Sound judgment and critical thinking skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Strong understanding of employment laws and HR best practices.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in human resource management or related discipline.
- Experience: 2+ years of human resources generalist experience with exposure to many of its disciplines and emphasis in employee relations. Strong experience with compliance or audit processes.
- Equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Active HR certification (SHRM-CP or PHR) preferred.
- Workday experience preferred.
