HR Generalist


Good Earth Markets is expanding and we want you to join us! We are a local natural foods store with locations throughout Utah. We are locally owned and have been committed to empowering our friends and neighbors to live healthier for nearly 50 years.


Good Earth's HR Generalist will report directly to Good Earth Markets' owner and CEO. The HR Generalist has a significant scope of responsibility at Good Earth: strategic talent development, compensation design, payroll, benefit plan design, compliance, activities and events, employee relations, performance management, and overall culture and employee engagement.


Key Job Duties:

  • Collaborate with the Recruiting Specialist to develop effective recruitment strategies
  • Execute Good Earth’s new hire onboarding process end-to-end, including systems access, I-9 verification, benefits onboarding, orientation, etc
  • Create and implement in-house training courses to support the onboarding and continued development of team members
  • Acts as the in-house benefits expert
  • Implementation of company policies and procedures and maintenance of policy changes/updates
  • Serve as the first point of contact for HR-related questions such as time off, payroll, HR policies, benefits, on the job injuries and escalating if needed
  • Coordinate the ongoing maintenance of HRIS systems -- auditing data, updating employee information, running reports, and maintaining employee files
  • Maintain and prep all payroll tasks, execute bimonthly payroll 
  • Complete all government documentation and lead all government inquires, including unemployment, DWS requests, garnishments, and surveys
  • Development and implementation of HR strategies that support business objectives including workforce planning, professional development, company culture, coaching and discipline, etc.
  • Oversight of the employee relations process and direct handling of escalated incidents
  • Help to cultivate a positive work environment through programs, activities and events that reinforce Good Earth’s values


Necessary Skills and Experience:

  • Strong analytics, verbal, and written communications skills
  • Understanding of state and federal employment regulations and labor laws
  • Continuously strives to strengthen and refine professional effectiveness in collaborating with others
  • Strong problem-solving skills—willing to think outside of the box and take on new challenges
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to manage tight deadlines and manage projects
  • Ability to work independently
  • Bachelor’s degree (or soon to be completed bachelor’s degree) or equivalent degree/experience combination


Schedule/Compensation/Benefits:

  • Full Time, 35-45 hours a week, Monday-Friday
  • Can be Salary or Hourly
  • Wage DOE
  • Health Insurance, employee discount, and paid time off
