Human Resources Generalist

TDB Communications, Inc. is looking for an enthusiastic, experienced Human Resources Generalist to continue to make a positive impact with our employees. This is a full-time onsite position based in Chester, Virginia. The role requires daily in-person presence and is not eligible for remote or hybrid work arrangements.

Role Overview:
As a Human Resources Generalist, you will be a key member of the HR team, reporting directly to the site's HR Manager. You will support day-to-day human resources functions and provide guidance to employees and managers on a wide range of HR-related matters. This role plays a critical part in ensuring HR processes run smoothly and align with company policies and organizational goals.

As this is an onsite role, the Human Resources Generalist is expected to work at the Chester, Virginia location during standard business hours to provide in-person support to employees and managers.

Key Responsibilities:

Employee Relations and Support:

  • Serve as a point of contact for employee relations matters, addressing concerns and helping to resolve workplace issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Provide guidance to employees and supervisors on company policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Assist with performance management processes, including documentation, coaching, and performance improvement plans.

Talent Acquisition and Onboarding:

  • Support the recruitment process by coordinating interviews, communicating with candidates, and collaborating with hiring managers to fill open positions.
  • Facilitate onboarding for new hires, ensuring a smooth and positive introduction to the organization.

Training and Development:

  • Coordinate and track required training programs, including compliance and professional development training.
  • Assist in identifying training needs and support the implementation of learning initiatives.

Compliance and HR Administration:

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and assist with HR audits as needed.
  • Support HR programs and initiatives to promote employee engagement and retention.

Duties:

  • Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
  • Recruit, interview, and facilitate hiring qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Conduct or acquire background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Implement new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs, including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and innovative technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Maintain knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws including the FMLA, ADA, and state and local laws.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Degree in human resources, business administration, related field, or a combination of experience, training, and education with major coursework in related areas.
  • At least two years of progressive HR experience.
  • HR certification is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged sitting throughout the workday with occasional mobility required.
  • Corrected vision within the normal range.
  • Hearing within normal range; a device to enhance hearing may be provided if needed.
  • Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate an online computer terminal and other standard office equipment.
  • Occasional movement throughout the department to interact with staff and accomplish tasks.

Work Environment:
This is an onsite position based in Chester, VA. Remote or hybrid work is not available for this role.

Pay and Benefits:

  • Base salary: $50,000–$60,000 per year
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits available the first of the month after 30 days of employment
  • 401(k) with 4% company match after six (6) months of employment
  • 11 paid holidays
  • Accrue up to three (3) weeks of PTO (paid time off)
