Under the general direction of the Vice President of Human Resources, this position will perform transactional and tactical Human Resources Generalist duties. This position will keep the Vice President of Human Resources up to date on department activities. Key areas of responsibility include: Benefits Administration, Leave Management, Compensation Administration, Performance Management, HRIS Administration, Employee and Labor Relations, Government Reporting, Internal Company Compliance, Internal Communication, Employee Engagement & Retention, OSHA, Workers Compensation, FMLA, Reporting, and other duties.
Responsibilities
- Administer Company employee benefit programs including but not limited to medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, health reimbursement account (HRA), Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs), Dependent Care Account (DCA), life insurance, long-term disability (LTD), voluntary benefits, employee assistant program (EAP) 401(K), 529 college savings plan.
- Assist with Recruiting, as needed
- Administer new hire enrollment, qualifying events, open enrollment, and termination / COBRA.
- Manage workers compensation claims from initial reporting status to return to work. Responsible for Osha log maintenance.
- Determine FMLA eligibility and manage the FMLA process
- Respond to employee questions/concerns
- Provide guidance to managers on employee relations issues.
- Assist with administering performance appraisal process to ensure that all employees receive prompt, accurate, and helpful feedback to improve their performance and maintain their high achievement levels.
- Administer, support, and maintain HRIS applications and modules. Troubleshoot and seek to solve employees, managers, vendors, as well as HR’s staff’s technical system issues.
- Create and analyze HRIS workflows to improve and streamline processes.
- Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations, as needed.
- Prepare and submit annual EEO-1 report.
- Handle employee relations matters and escalate, as needed
- Up to 20% travel to locations, as needed.
- Maintain an “audit ready” stance regarding data information requirements that would be required of any Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) audit.
- Respond to regulatory requests for information, including but not limited to: Department of Labor inquiries, unemployment, disability, internal and external employment verifications, garnishments, and benefit support orders.
- Manage content of HR’s intranet page.
- Coordinate the publishing of HR-related employee communications, ensuring that the JESCO launchpad is up to date.
- Liaise with Payroll Department on relevant aspects of the Company’s payroll administration function ensuring that the Company complies with federal, state, and local laws and Company policy.
- Ensure the completion of any payroll related information (Employee Change forms)
- Liaison with Safety & Compliance department on pre-employment testing for DOT-covered applicants and new hires.
- Initiate the Pre-Employment Full Query process for all CDL drivers through the DOT compliance partner.
- Prepare and submit the annual OSHA 300 report.
- Ensure that the OSHA 300A reports are posted prominently by the end of January of each year in all branch office locations.
- Prepare HR reporting Metrics, as needed
- Create ad-hoc reports for management, as requested.
- Assist in any indexing efforts necessary for the digitization of personnel records.
- Assist with the development and implementation of strategic HR projects related to workforce development (i.e., Company-wide policies and procedures and benefits improvements)
- Seek out and research training and development opportunities, stay abreast of current events and developments in the HR field.
- Analyze Human Resources key metrics (including but not limited to new hires, headcount, turnover, exit interviews, days to fill positions, cost per hire) and utilize data for recommending process improvements.
- Conduct exit interviews for departing employees for evaluative purposes. Identify patterns and issues, make appropriate recommendations based upon feedback.
- Perform other duties as assigned and required.
