Description

Position Summary

The Human Resources Generalist supports the daily functions of the HR Department, including full-cycle recruiting, benefits administration, HRIS management, compliance reporting, and the creation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This role requires strong organizational and analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.

The Generalist will also assist with employee engagement and development initiatives and will actively participate in company-wide HR projects such as internal and external audits, compliance reviews, and process improvement efforts.

This position is ideal for an HR professional who is confident in operational HR functions but ready to expand into more strategic and project-based work.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Recruiting & Onboarding

  • Manage full-cycle recruiting for exempt and non-exempt roles, including job postings, applicant tracking, interviewing, and onboarding
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to ensure accurate job descriptions and consistent hiring practices
  • Coordinate pre-employment background checks, drug testing, and new hire documentation
  • Conduct onboarding sessions and ensure all compliance paperwork is complete

HRIS & Benefits Administration

  • Serve as a point of contact for Paycom system administration, troubleshooting, and reporting
  • Maintain employee records, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality
  • Administer employee benefits programs including health, dental, vision, life, disability, and 401(k)
  • Support annual benefits renewal and open enrollment processes
  • Process qualifying life events and ensure compliance with COBRA and ACA regulations

Compliance & Reporting

  • Assist in the preparation and maintain all required federal, state, and local compliance reports (EEO-1, ACA, OSHA, etc.)
  • Assist with internal and external HR, benefits, and payroll audits
  • Maintain policy documentation, employee handbook updates, and compliance postings
  • Support E-Verify and I-9 processes in accordance with federal requirements

Employee Relations & Engagement

  • Support the HR Director with employee relations matters, investigations, and disciplinary documentation as needed
  • Coordinate employee engagement activities, recognition programs, and communication efforts
  • Assist managers with performance management, goal setting, and employee development planning

Process Improvement & SOP Development

  • Create, update, and implement SOPs and HR process documentation
  • Identify opportunities to streamline HR workflows using Paycom and other tools
  • Participate in strategic HR projects including workforce planning, job family mapping, and compensation reviews

 

Qualifications

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of recent HR experience in recruiting, benefits administration, and compliance
  • Hands-on experience with Paycom (not just user level - must include reporting and/or setup experience)
  • Solid understanding of HR compliance (FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEO, COBRA, etc.)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to work with data and metrics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Preferred:

  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification
  • Experience in construction, manufacturing, or field-based industries
  • Experience supporting multi-state operations

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Ability to occasionally walk job sites and navigate various obstructions safely
  • Must be able to see and hear with or without corrective tools
  • Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required for HR files or event setup
