Human Resources Generalist

 

General Purpose:

The HR Generalist is a key member of the HR team, delivering outstanding service to staff while managing the day-to-day operations of the HR office. This role touches every stage of the employee lifecycle — from recruitment and onboarding through engagement and offboarding — and plays a meaningful part in shaping the employee experience at Purgatory.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Onboarding & Orientation 

  • Coordinate all onboarding logistics to ensure a smooth, compliant, and welcoming new hire experience.
  • Organize new hire orientation sessions for seasonal and year-round staff.
  • Manage I-9 verification, E-Verify compliance, and required policy acknowledgments.
  • Partner with team leads to support successful integration of new employees.

 

Recruitment 

  • Assist the HR Manager with recruiting, screening, and interviewing candidates for open positions.
  • Coordinate background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Help facilitate a positive candidate experience throughout the hiring process.

HRIS & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate employee records in Paycom and support ongoing data integrity.
  • Assist with processing employee status changes and generating HR reports as needed.
  • Help maintain personnel files and support regular compliance audits.
  • Assist the HR Manager with employee deductions, payroll support, and offboarding documentation.
  • Conduct and document exit interviews; share trends and insights with the HR Manager.

Employee Engagement & Operations

  • Support employee engagement programs, recognition initiatives, and staff events.
  • Administer employee perks, discount programs, and season pass distribution.
  • Manage uniform inventory, laundry, and distribution.
  • Oversee the J1 Program when active.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to staff via walk-ins, phone, and email.
  • Manage office supplies, workspace organization, and the HR Gmail inbox.
  • Train and support any seasonal HR front-line staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters with integrity and professionalism.
  • Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable working across all levels of a large workforce.
  • Proficient in Google Suite
  • Hands-on HRIS experience required, Paycom strongly preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive, collaborative attitude with a willingness to pitch in wherever needed.

 

Education & Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of HR or relevant administrative experience required.
  • Ski industry or seasonal workforce experience is strongly preferred.
  • Previous recruitment experience is a plus.
  • SHRM-CP certification is a plus.

 

Work Environment

Primarily an indoor office role (~85%), with approximately 15% outdoors. Occasional lifting up to 75 lbs. Availability on weekends and holidays during ski season is required. This is a non-skiing position.
