- PURPOSE OF THE JOB (What are the end results or objectives of this position? Why does the job exist?)
The Human Resources Generalist oversees the onboarding and offboarding of employees, maintains the applicant tracking system, assists with communicating employee benefits to eligible employees, processes enrollments & terminations with benefit carriers, and processes payments to benefit carriers. This position also maintains employee records and assists with compliance of policies and procedures.
- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (What duties are required for the position to exist?)
- Employee Records – Processing & communicating onboarding and offboarding processes to employees, syncing employee setups between the payroll system & HRIS, enrolling eligible employees in coverage options with each benefit carrier, and maintaining employee records to ensure accuracy and completeness of records.
- Benefit reconciliation – Must maintain records of all fringe benefits and make necessary adjustments in payroll records. Also issue check requests for invoices related to employee benefits and maintain files for benefit related invoices.
- Applicant Tracking – Oversee job postings to the applicant tracking system, review and forward on qualified applicants, and review general resumes received when notified of an opening on campus.
- Bill-Card Reconciliation – Monthly reconciliation of purchase made via departmental credit card for proper posted.
- General Ledger Entries – Compile general ledger entries for daily, weekly and monthly bank drafts for benefit carriers.
- Tuition Discounts – Maintain full-time tuition waiver file for posting by Accounting Services. Report eligible part-time employee discounts to Accounting Services each semester.
- OTHER DUTIES & REPONSIBILITIES (Responsibilities/important duties performed occasionally or in addition to the essential duties of the position.)
- Fill out wage and employment verification forms.
- Assist with maintaining employee data in budgeting software.
- Maintain records for Medical & Dental Continuation participants.
- Maintain employment forms.
- Compile an accurate list of employees and addresses to Financial Development Office.
- Report Worker’s Comp claims and submit bills for payment.
- Log incidents to OSHAlogs and posting OSHA 300A Summary.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources.

Preferred
- Previous experience in a Human Resources environment is preferred due to the nature of the job requirements.
- Strong administrative and organizational skills preferred.
- FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY (Budgeting responsibilities, approval privileges on purchase orders and check requests, reporting and auditing functions.)

There is no fiscal responsibility associated with the Human Resources Generalist position. This job must remain independent of any fiscal decision-making.

- Contact with faculty and administration
- Contact with current, previous, and potential future employees of the Seminary.

- PHYSICAL DEMANDS (Walking, lifting, equipment, operation, etc.)
- Normal fitness for general office duties.
- WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT (i.e., necessary travel, unusual work hours, unusual environmental conditions, etc.)
- There are no unusual hours or excessive travel required.
