Description

This is a temporary role for leave of absence coverage. There is a possibility that it could become a permanent position depending on business needs. The Human Resources Generalist provides professional-level and administrative support with day-to-day Human Resources functions. Responsible for areas including onboarding, recruitment, selection, employee orientation, HRIS administration, employee data maintenance, benefits administration, payroll and time management, and other Human Resources-related tasks. This position will have development opportunities in employee relations, training and development, and performance management. The HR Generalist is a collaborative member of the HR team. Assists with employee culture building. All processes are managed in accordance with procedure and in accordance with federal and state regulations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Provides professional-level and administrative support for day-to-day activities for the Human Resources (HR) department in areas to include onboarding, recruiting, selection, employee orientation, HRIS administration, employee data maintenance, benefits administration, payroll administration, and general HR-related tasks; function as a backup for various Human Resources Department duties as assigned.
  • Leads administration of the paperless hiring process for new hire and rehired employees; communicate and coordinate with hiring supervisors to expedite onboarding while following all required procedural standards and communicating procedural standards/directions to hiring supervisors.
  • Facilities employee orientation facilitation using materials, and receiving direction, provided by the HR Manager or Director.
  • Completes criminal background screenings for job candidates, volunteers or current employees based on procedure or request; completes employment verifications.
  • Completes E-Verify and Form I-9 verification process and completion within required timeframe; maintains files.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training. This may include safety trainings, anti-harassment training and employee orientation.
  • Manages HRIS administration; enters data, completes system audits, troubleshoots, manages data corrections, recommends corrective action to HR Director for system issues or to enhance efficiencies.
  • Manages employment-related inquiries, from employees, and supervisors, referring HRIS and payroll questions up to complex and/or sensitive matters; refers matters to the HR Director as needed.
  • Reviews employee timecards and processes bi-weekly payroll; review timecard and payroll data for accuracy and resolve issues and correct discrepancies; ensure accurate and timely payroll processing and employee payments.
  • Administers payroll-related tasks including but not limited to administration of off-cycle pay, bonus and stipend processing, deduction review and assignment.
  • Prepares off-cycle payrolls and manual checks as needed.
  • Coordinates with the Finance department on periodic payroll audits and budget/payroll-related processes.
  • Assists with employee changes processing in HRIS software and other HRIS administrative tasks.
  • Assists with invoice and billing review and processing for ongoing HR processes.
  • Assists with other human resources administrative processes as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field required. At least two (2) years of human resources or payroll or benefits administration-related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, relevant experience and/or training. Spanish speaking skills a plus.

  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification is desired but not required.

Wage Range: $57,571.00-$66,207.00 annually

Classification: Full-Time, Exempt

Working Conditions: The physical environment requires the employee to work primarily in an indoor office setting and sit for prolonged periods of time. Employee may occasionally work outside for short periods of time in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry conditions. May be requested to work occasional evenings and weekends for staff trainings and special events.
