Mission Contribution:

Under general supervision, to administer human resource policies, practices and overall organizational guidelines, aligned to our mission of employment services. To develop organizational resources and capabilities necessary to carry out the strategies employed for mission delivery.

 

 

Function:

Under the direct leadership of the Director of Human Resources, is responsible for processing and supporting human resources information, procedures, and systems in support of the Human Resources Team, and all Goodwill Industries of South Mississippi team members.  In conjunction with the HR Director, works to create and maintain a well-organized and effective employment process that enables positive synergy between Human Resources and all departments in the company.  A critical component of this position is to support in a variety of initiatives that contribute to the retention and job satisfaction of those employed. Performs all or a combination of the following specific duties as required:

 

Specific Duties:

 

  1. Foster and advance human resource performance improvement aligned to the Mission, Core Values, and Guiding Principles. 
  2. Responds to, investigates and resolves employee relations issues in the best interests of the team member and Goodwill, ensuring a motivated and productive workforce and legal compliance.  Some of these issues include but are not limited to: attendance, grievances, loss prevention issues, misconduct, team member complaints, etc. 
  3. Serves as a consultant to team leaders across the organization in the administration of our standards of conduct, core values, guiding principles, code of ethics and other guidelines; as they apply to team members’ progressive performance and corrective action management.
  4. Independently ensures the quality of performance and/or disciplinary coaching records, focusing on core values and positive feedback from team leaders, appropriate documentation and success in post-employment hearings.
  5. Responds to Unemployment Benefit activity including responding to benefit claims, and appeals when necessary. Assists with or responds to EEOC claims, and other areas of labor law compliance and reporting.  
  6. Administers all FMLA leave, tracking, medical documentation, return to work for the specific Departments and Region. Receives Incident/Accident reports, and partners with Risk & Safety for workers comp injury job restriction accommodation and transitional duty, return to full release.

 

 

 

 

 

 

  1. Prepares various personnel-related reports, internal and external, necessary for compliance and/or communication of Goodwill’s programs, on a regular basis and as required.  

 

  1. Responsible for data input and data integrity for HR information systems and participates in company-wide Human Resource projects.    

 

  1. Prepares and maintains accurate personnel files in accordance with applicable statutes and accreditation requirements.  Ensures that all personnel paperwork is timely and within Goodwill and regulatory standards.  Processes personnel data in a timely manner in accordance with the State of Mississippi, the Department of Labor, and Agency standards – including any accreditation requirements.  Assists in the review of new hire paperwork for accuracy and legal requirements. 

 

  1. Mediate between benefits providers and employees, such as by assisting in handling employees' benefits and basic compensation related questions or taking suggestions. Prepares material to promote benefits, wellness and compensation as a tool of employment branding

 

  1. Processes and coordinates every administrative aspect associated with benefits administration, wellness and compensation integrity (internal and external).  Maintains accurate benefits and total compensation records. Administers the open enrollment process, regular enrollments and all day-to-day aspects of benefits administration and compensation changes

 

  1. Processes every administrative aspect of Payroll accurately and timely. Maintains accurate payroll records and corrects any errors in a timely manner.

  1. Responsible for Benefits related data input and data integrity in HR management system.  Ensure company compliance with federal and state laws, including reporting requirements. Team Member benefits maintenance - enrollments and terminations and bill reconciliation

 

  1. As required, handles project management responsibilities in specific HR assignments. 

 

  1. Attends in-service and related training as assigned by Director.

 

  1. May be asked to participate in activities outside of Goodwill.

 

  1. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Superior leadership, interpersonal, and analytical skills

• Thorough understanding of Human Resources laws and regulations behavior and dynamics

• Thorough knowledge of Human Resources business systems, technology, procedures

• Ability to set, manage, and meet deadlines under changing conditions and circumstances

• Ability to plan strategically

 

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

• Relevant BS Degree, MS and professional certification preferred

• 3+ years of Human Resource Systems Management experience preferred

• 3+ years accounting or payroll management needed
