Human Resources Generalist

 

The Utah 2034 Organizing Committee is seeking a Human Resources Generalist. This position supports the people operations needs of the organization as Utah 2034 prepares to welcome the world and deliver an exceptional Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games experience in support of the vision to elevate communities, elevate sport, and elevate the Games experience.

 

This position supports day-to-day human resources operations across the employee lifecycle, including recruiting coordination, onboarding, employee records, policies and procedures, HR systems, reporting, compliance support, and general employee relations administration. The Human Resources Generalist will help build consistent, people-centered processes that support organizational readiness, team effectiveness, and a positive employee experience.

 

Working closely with leaders and staff across the organizing committee, this role provides hands-on HR support in a fast-paced and evolving environment. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, service-minded, and able to balance administrative rigor with sound judgment and discretion. This role reports to the Vice President - Operations & Planning.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • HR Operations & Administration
    • Support day-to-day HR operations, including employee records management, document administration, data entry, and maintenance of HR systems and trackers
    • Help maintain HR policies, procedures, forms, and internal resources to support consistency and compliance
    • Prepare HR-related reports, correspondence, and employee communications as needed
    • Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in handling sensitive employee information
  • Talent Support
    • Coordinate recruiting and interview logistics, including scheduling, candidate communications, and preparation of interview materials
    • Support onboarding and offboarding processes, including documentation, orientation coordination, and process follow-through
    • Assist with temporary workforce, seasonal staffing, and hiring administration as organizational needs evolve
    • Pre-Games Volunteer Programs & Database
      • Support the administration of pre-Games volunteer programs, including interest tracking, communications, scheduling support, and coordination of related materials and processes
      • Help maintain volunteer records and database information, ensuring data is accurate, current, and organized for reporting and future planning
      • Assist with volunteer outreach, inquiries, and follow-up communications in coordination with internal teams and stakeholders
      • Support reporting, tracking, and administrative processes related to volunteer participation, pipeline development, and pre-Games readiness activities
    • Employee Support & Compliance
      • Respond to routine employee questions related to HR processes, policies, and programs, escalating issues when appropriate
      • Support compliance activities related to employment practices, training administration, recordkeeping, and required documentation
      • Help coordinate employee engagement, training, and internal HR initiatives in partnership with leaders and cross-functional teams
      • Help leverage approved digital and AI-enabled tools, as appropriate, to improve HR administration, reporting, and process efficiency
    • Build effective working relationships with employees, managers, and cross-functional partners across the organization
    • Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and service-oriented employee experience aligned with Utah 2034’s commitment to welcoming the world and inviting every Utahn to feel part of the Games
    • Demonstrate sound judgment, professionalism, and responsiveness in a dynamic environment
    • Perform other HR and administrative duties as assigned in support of organizational priorities



Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, communications, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
  • 3–5 years of experience in human resources, people operations, or a related administrative function
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and maintain follow-through in a fast-paced environment
  • Professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment in handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams
  • Experience with HR systems, recordkeeping, and process administration
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative office environment



Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting recruiting, onboarding, employee engagement, or HR compliance activities
  • Experience with HRIS platforms or applicant tracking systems
  • Knowledge of general employment practices and workplace policies
  • Experience using collaboration or productivity tools, particularly AI-enabled tools
  • HR certification or progress toward certification is a plus



Tools, Equipment & Conditions

  • Ability to work onsite in an office environment based in Salt Lake City, Utah
  • The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment
  • Prolonged sitting and regular use of hands and wrists for typing and other administrative tasks
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move light office materials and supplies
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional additional hours, as needed to support organizational priorities
  • Limited local travel may be required from time to time in support of meetings, events, or organizational needs
