Hammer Made is looking to hire a Human Resources Generalist to manage people operations for our Headquarters and retail store locations including recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration, HRIS management, employee engagement, and other people-related projects.


Job Purpose: This position is responsible for the staffing and overall employee engagement of the organization through best-in-class HR practices.

40% Recruiting and staffing:

  • Analyze staffing needs: Work with store management to recruit, attract, hire, and onboard employees for our HQ and retail store locations (Twin Cities, Las Vegas and Miami)
  • Update organization chart and job descriptions when needed
  • Organize and manage new employee orientation, onboarding, and training programs
  • Handle terminations when necessary in compliance with federal and state law and with an emphasis on risk management

20% Training and development:

  • Analyze training needs and develop and deliver curriculum to address needs
  • Update employee handbook and retail training manual
  • Answer employee questions and address employee concerns with company; including employee safety, welfare, wellness and health
  • Provides internal communication for employee relations

20% Payroll Review

  • Maintain employee records and files
  • Maintain Paylocity HRIS system with payroll and employee data
  • Review bi-weekly payroll with accuracy and timeliness alongside Payroll Administrator.

20% Compliance and additional assignments

  • Benefits management and open enrollment
  • Performance review compensation analysis
  • Cover all legal compliance for human resource federal and state requirements
  • Unemployment programs
  • Worker’s Compensation
Requirements

Competencies

  • Possesses superb written and spoken communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship-building and employee coaching skills
  • Proficiency in HRIS and ATS—Paylocity experience strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of record maintenance and retention standards
  • Organized and efficient in daily tasks
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills with both internal and external parties
  • Ability to think strategically, define business opportunities and solve problems, collect, interpret and analyze abstract and concrete information, and create strategic, value-add solutions
  • Ability to cope with change, and ambiguity and make decisions comfortably


Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field, or extensive prior experience in human resources
  • 3-5 years of experience in progressive human resources positions.
  • 2+ years’ experience with HRIS- Paylocity experience preferred
  • Specialized training in employment law, compensation, organization development, employee relations, training and development preferred.
  • General knowledge of employment laws and best practices.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no direct reports at this time


Work Environment: This job operates in an office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets. You will work closely with the General Manager and Senior Accountant for payroll, hiring needs, training and accountability.


Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The employee is frequently required to work on a computer for extended periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time, exempt position. Regular business hours are 8:30am-5pm at our Eden Prairie HQ location.


Travel: This position may occasionally travel to local MN store locations to conduct training and or to address employee issues.
