Job Summary:

The Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for administering various human resources and benefit systems under the direction of the (Human Resources Director) according to organizational goals, policies, and procedures. Additionally, the Human Resources Generalist will work alongside the Credentialing Specialist in managing all aspects of the credentialing processes for the company.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Administers group insurance programs; processes claims, terminations, and changes in status; follows up on claim issues. Serve as primary contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators. Administers organization’s benefits programs (leave policies, unemployment insurance, COBRA, etc.) and associated leaves such as Worker’s Compensation, TDI, FMLA, HFLL, and other medical leaves. Actively represent the company in court mandated hearings relating to all human resources matters. 
  • Communicates directly with employees and vendors to assure mutual understanding of provisions, benefits, requirements. Monitors and processes group insurance invoices for payment. Research employee benefits plans and vendors to identify those that enhance the benefits package. Participate in negotiations with benefit vendors/carriers to achieve the best value for the company. Develop communication tools to enhance understanding of the company's benefits package. Design and distribute materials for benefits orientations, open enrollment and summary plan descriptions.
  • Assists in orientation and training with staff as it relates to company benefits. Provide customer service support to internal and external customers. Processes Personnel Actions in various HR Information Systems (ADP, Central Reach, etc), including but not limited to pay rate changes, position/personnel/service code updates, and terminations. Perform offboarding tasks.
  • Work alongside the Credentialing Specialist in managing all aspects of the credentialing process, such as initial credentialing, document tracking, re-credentialing, and closing out during employee offboarding.
  • Other human resources duties as assigned.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting employee benefits programs, including the ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, workers' compensation, Medicare, and Social Security.
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products, including PowerPoint; experience with HRIS and benefits databases.
  • Effective planning and priority setting. Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.


Education/Experience requirements:

  • At least 2 years experience in human resources specifically benefits administration and employee relations
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification (preferred, not required)
  • Previous experience with ADP WorkforceNow (preferred, not required)
  • Previous credentialing experience (preferred, not required)
