ABOUT THE JOB

The Tepa Companies are seeking a Human Resources Generalist has a broad knowledge of human resources functions and supports the entire core Human Resources team by applying business knowledge and human resources expertise to successfully implement company-wide initiatives and programs. The Human Resources Generalist works closely with all internal departments and performs a variety of routine and non-routine tasks to administer and execute human resource programs, including but not limited to benefits, leave, compensation, performance, recognition, employee relations, and compliance.  This individual is detail-oriented and is a motivated, results-driven, action-oriented, adaptable self-starter with a positive attitude who works effectively both independently and collaboratively.

Job Functions:

  • Lead employee relations consultations and investigations provide high-quality advice to management and employees, and partner with management to proactively provide employee counseling, coaching, and discipline as appropriate; interpret local, state, and federal laws as they apply to specific employee relations or employment situations; ensure uniform and equitable application of policies and procedures; escalate matters to the Director of Corporate Human Resources as needed.
  • Lead investigation processes to determine the validity of employee misconduct claims or violations of company policies or procedures (including determining the scope of investigations, conducting complainant and witness interviews, analyzing data, reaching unbiased evidence-based conclusions, and recommending necessary remediation while ensuring consistent and equitable application of policies and discipline).
  • Prepare and present investigative findings in written reports for employee records and legal documentation.
  • Maintain comprehensive employee relations logs, reporting, and files.
  • Assist Director of Corporate Human Resources with job pricings and compensation review.
  • Lead offboarding process for departing employees; lead or attend involuntary termination meetings as requested; prepare termination letters and severance agreements; conduct exit interviews.
  • Process employee status changes (new hires, transfers, classification changes, and terminations) and payroll-related changes; maintain related documentation.
  • May review weekly, biweekly, and off-cycle payroll runs for personnel-related changes.
  • Maintain core HR landing page updates and communications through Tepa’s intranet.
  • Lead ongoing employee performance management and annual reviews.
  • Responsible for maintenance and integrity of employee records and HRIS data.
  • Review and maintain ongoing job description library and FLSA classifications by position.
  • Update and draft new organizational policies to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies; maintain company policy library.
  • Lead various federal and state compliance matters (reporting, auditing, documentation, etc.)
  • Update departmental documents to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and internal policies and procedures.
  • Lead daily benefits plan administration in partnership with Tepa’s H&W benefits broker, including tasks related to new hires, terminations, life events, and open enrollment.
  • Lead compliance with annual PPACA requirements, including 1094 / 1095 filings.
  • Lead daily administration of 401(k) plan.
  • Assist the Director of Corporate Human Resources and/or Senior Human Resources Generalist with annual 401(k) plan testing and audit.
  • Responsible for employee leave and ADA discussions, documentation, communication, and processing.
  • Maintain working knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, performance management, and employment law.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other departments, team members, and management to build trust, improve processes, and complete projects.
  • Maintain employee, manager, and organization discretion by keeping all human resources information confidential.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • 5+ years’ prior experience in a Human Resources role
  • 5+ years’ prior experience in Benefits Administration & Compliance
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Human Resources, law, or other related field desired
  • Experience with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems
  • Detailed knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
  • Detailed knowledge of benefits compliance 
  • Detailed knowledge of required processes related to day-to-day benefit plan administration
  • Working knowledge of general payroll practices, requirements, and interaction with benefits
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain high standards of confidentiality
  • Demonstrated ability to complete assignments with attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  • Demonstrated proficiency in establishing priorities and managing multiple tasks to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated proficiency in data analysis and solving problems both proactively and reactively
  • Demonstrated proficiency in taking initiative under general supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to speak clearly and concisely while exercising tact and diplomacy
  • Demonstrated ability to write grammatically correct routine business correspondence and documentation
