The Position: 

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the HR Generalist will contribute to the success of Scan Global Logistics by providing the highest quality support to the North American division of the organization. (approximately 1000 employees spanning multiple sites across the US and Canada) The HR Generalist will increase the presence and accessibility of the Human Resources department by providing support of a confidential and complex nature, primarily in the areas of: benefits administration, workers compensation, training, and development, leave administration, compliance, onboarding, employee data management, and policy & procedure development & communication.  

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

  • Be a trusted advisor to employees, supporting them on day-to-day HR matters, company policies, procedures and benefit related questions
  • Find proactive and creative solutions for a broad range of day-to-day HR issues that surface
  • Help drive and support select HR initiatives from concept, successful execution, and rollout strategies
  • Assist with the day-to-day administration of Leave of Absence process, Worker’s compensation, FMLA, unemployment & reporting
  • New hire orientation & onboarding
  • Benefits administration (including annual enrollment support, training, communication & overall support to employees)
  • Maintain accurate and updated electronic employee records & files, assuring compliance with all applicable governmental regulations
  • Run reports and gather data for metrics and other reporting purposes
  • Assist with employee handbook & roll out to North American organization
  • Support performance management process for North American organization
  • Stay up to date with latest benefits, compensation, and recognition data/trends Oversee leave management
  • Assist with workers comp and training and development 
  • Support separation process when necessary

Experience & Competencies Required for Success: 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred 
  • 3+ years of progressive human resources experience in an HR generalist capacity
  • Broad knowledge of employment, benefits, compensation, employee relations, training & development, onboarding, HR audits, compliance, workers comp, and training & development 
  • Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships, demonstrated by follow-through on commitments and ensuring a high level of service quality
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations related to HR, including EEO and FLSA
  • Experience using HRIS applications to support internal customers and operations – ADP WFN Preferred 
  • Experience developing training documents & participating in virtual and in person training programs
  • Experiencing successfully managing multiple projects at one time
  • Ability to work collaboratively at all levels of the organization to influence and achieve results
  • Clear track record of getting things done in timely & efficient manner
  • Ability to remain flexible, juggle multiple priorities, & change directions as needed
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills; this individual must be able to communicate ideas and information clearly and concisely
  • Outstanding planning and organization skills
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Creative problem-solving and time management skills. Great attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word & Outlook
  • Technical savviness & past experience working in various internal organizational systems successfully

Hours/schedule: This is a full-time regular, exempt level position. Role will be a combination of work in an office setting, and occasional local & national travel to field sites.
