Description:  

SMART Management, the charter management organization serving 20+ BridgePrep Academy schools and Creative Inspiration Journey School, is hiring a Human Resources Manager to support key personnel functions across our growing network. This role supports the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, background screenings, offboarding, and personnel records. The HR Manager will also assist with school acquisitions, participate in candidate screening during peak hiring seasons, and support the January 2025 transition to a new HRIS and Payroll system. Job Details 

Responsibilities 

  • Employee Records Management – Maintain employee profiles, certifications, and system updates (e.g., CHESSBOARD, HRIS)
  • Background Screening & Verification – Coordinate Level 2 background checks, verifications, and re-screenings as required by state guidelines
  • Onboarding & I-9 Compliance – Facilitate onboarding logistics, I-9 completion, E-Verify, and policy sign-offs 
  • Candidate Screening (Peak Hiring Season) – Support school hiring teams by screening applications, coordinating interviews, and tracking candidate pipelines 
  • Offboarding & Exit Interviews – Process resignations and terminations, conduct exit interviews, and update system records 
  • HRIS & Payroll Transition Support – Assist with the January 2025 migration to a new HRIS/payroll platform, including testing and training 
  • School Acquisition Support – Assist with HR system setup and personnel file conversion for newly acquired schools 
  • General HR Operations – Respond to HR inquiries, support compliance audits, and communicate updates to schools

Education and Experience 

  • - Familiarity with charter school operations or HR compliance
    - Bilingual (English/Spanish)  
    - Experience with onboarding software or applicant tracking system

Knowledge and Skills 

  • Experience applying analytical and process driven HR practices  
  • Experience providing exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders  
  • Experience working in fast-paced, high-growth work environments with minimal supervision and in a hands-on fashion to accomplish multiple goals / priorities 
  • Experience training and coaching, to include providing upward feedback to all levels in an organization

Physical Requirements: Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move 

Travel: Up to 25% (primarily for onboarding support and school visits)
