The Meadowlands YMCA is currently looking for an individual who wants to make a valuable contribution and help transform the lives of others in the role of our Human Resources Manager.
The Human Resources Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of all HR operations to include; the oversight and administration of HR policies and procedures; talent acquisition, employee engagement and retention, employee relations, learning and development, performance management, employee departures and legal compliance.
She/he will work in a leadership role and in partnership with all staff to enhance the workforce culture, understanding that diversity and inclusion are integral to our organization’s aspirations for excellence.
- Accountable for all functional areas of HR, such as recruiting and staffing, personnel records, training, employee relation, compliance with state and federal laws, employee relations, talent management, compensation, and retention.
- Ensure policies and procedures are applied fairly and consistently by front-line supervisors and managers.
- Perform benefits administration, including claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment and communicating benefits information to employees.
- Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
- Lead in all areas of human resources including recruitment and retention, new hire orientation, on boarding, workforce planning and analysis, staff training, employee relations, departures and legal compliance.
- Enhance and maintain a positive workforce culture.
- Oversee employee welfare, safety, wellness and health and counselling
- Oversee the processing of Unemployment and Worker Compensation claims.
- Administer HR policy, enforcement and documentation.
- Track and ensure EEOC, FMLA, ADA and OSHA compliance.
- Provide an advocacy/consulting role for employees experiencing problems/issues that impact their jobs.
- Assist managers with the administration of the disciplinary process and annual performance
- Assist in responding to employees’ relation issues in partnership with appropriate line manager/supervisor
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to establish and maintain positive professional relationships with staff across all levels in the organization
- Performs other related duties as necessary to support the branch.
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree and three to five (3-5) years of relevant HR.
- Experience in full cycle recruitment experience.
- Experience in HRIS/ applicant tracking systems preferred
- Familiar with payroll systems. Experience with Paycom preferred.
- Solid understanding of federal and state employment and labor laws.
- PHR/SPHR certification strongly preferred.
- A working knowledge of the computer especially Microsoft Office Suite (Windows environment).
- Experience leading within an environment undergoing transformational change.
- Possess excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Demonstrated commitment to the mission and purpose of the YMCA.
- Excellent human relationship skills with employees and with a member service focus.
- Excellent decision-making skills, the ability to take initiative & be flexible.
- A professional personal image and the ability to work harmoniously and establish positive relationships with staff, members, and the business community are imperative
