Schedule/Hours: Full-time

 

This position is responsible for:

 

The Human Resources Manager acts as a Business Partner and oversees all human resources functions for the Command, including recruitment, employment, benefits, leave management, employee relations, and management performance assessment. They are responsible for the daily administration of programs and HR activities to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and established policies and procedures. The manager demonstrates strong listening and comprehension skills and builds effective working relationships across all departments of the Command and division to help develop staff solutions that adapt to changing business and staffing needs. Additionally, they serve as the liaison to the Divisional Human Resources Director to ensure adherence to approved personnel recordkeeping and HR practices. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Monitors and enforces personnel policies and procedures in accordance with the Employee Manual, standard human resources policies, and local, state, and federal employment laws.

 

  • Manages the recruitment program and works to maintain a superior workforce at the Area Command through job posting, advertising, interviewing, reference verification, testing, and new employee orientation. 

 

  • Coordinates and executes the human resources functions for the Command, including promotions, transfers, terminations, grievances, workers’ compensation, FMLA, and other employee benefit matters.

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Ability to meet attendance and work performance requirements.

Ability to operate various general office equipment, including a computer, , telephone, and fax machine.

Work requires the ability to lift, carry, and/or push/pull light (less than 25 lbs.) materials, supplies, and equipment. Light mobility: duties are usually performed by a combination of standing, walking, and primarily sitting. 

Work is performed in a normal office environment with little or no physical discomfort from changes in weather or from noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

Work may involve some travel, with physical discomfort associated with travel.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resources or a related field AND Six years of progressive experience in managing the human resource function, including all areas of competencies.

 

  •  OR

 

  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

 

Licenses and Certifications:

Valid Driver's License (Must meet The Salvation Army’s guidelines to be approved as a driver.)
