Acadian Companies has an exciting and strategic opportunity for a HR Manager to join our team in Lafayette.  This role manages the implementation and administration of human resources policies and programs with a strong focus on employee relations, onboarding, recruitment, and compliance with all applicable federal and state laws. Works in close partnership with the Director and Vice President of Human Resources to develop, implement, and continuously evaluate HR strategies that support organizational goals and promote a positive work environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages the organization's Department of Labor reporting functions, including but not limited to EEO-1, VETS-100, and new hire/termination reporting.
  • Oversees unemployment claim responses, including the preparation and submission of documentation and participation in appeals and hearings.
  • Provides active support in the recruitment and selection process to ensure timely staffing of qualified candidates. Partners with hiring managers to align staffing needs with business objectives while ensuring a consistent and compliant hiring process.
  • Develops and analyzes ongoing and ad hoc reports related to HR metrics such as benefit costs, turnover, absenteeism, staffing trends, recruitment activity, and EEO compliance.
  • Leverages HRIS and data systems to gather, store, and interpret workforce data in support of strategic planning.
  • Leads the investigation and resolution of employee relations matters, including complaints, workplace conflicts, policy violations, and performance issues. Ensures investigations are conducted in a thorough, confidential, and objective manner while maintaining accurate documentation and compliance with organizational standards. Provides recommendations to management on corrective actions and risk mitigation strategies. Proactively identifies workplace trends or potential concerns and works to develop preventive solutions.
  • Assists in the daily oversight of core HR functions such as compensation administration, employee status changes, job classification, performance management, and temporary staffing. Ensures adherence to quality management principles and HR best practices.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of current and emerging federal and state employment laws and regulations, advising leadership on legal and regulatory impacts to business operations. Monitors legislative and regulatory developments to identify risks and opportunities for HR and organizational strategy.
  • Acts as a consultant and partner to department managers, supporting them in effectively addressing personnel matters, coaching on HR best practices, and ensuring consistency in policy application and employee engagement.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Human Resources, Business Administration, or related education preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively increasing responsibility in Human Resources with an emphasis on Employee Relations/Workplace Investigations
  • At least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Strong relationship building skills.
