General Purpose:

The primary purpose of the Human Resources Manager position is to assist the Director of Staff Development (DSD), Director of Nursing (DON), and Administrator in administering policies and implementing facility orientation. This role is essential for fostering a positive work environment and supporting the organization’s goals and values.

Essential Duties:

  • Support organizational goals and values while maintaining strict confidentiality.

  • Follow schedules and instructions from your supervisor and adhere to established policies and procedures.

  • Organize the orientation of new employees in compliance with regulations, covering care philosophy, resident rights, safety, infection control, and facility policies.

  • Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting HR functions.

  • Assist with the recruitment and onboarding of new employees, including candidate screening, interviews, and scheduling.

  • Enter required information into HR data systems.

  • Prepare reports on various HR topics as needed.

  • Update employment records regarding hiring, transfers, promotions, and terminations.

  • Administer benefits programs including life, health, dental, and disability insurances, pension plans, vacation, sick leave, and employee assistance.

  • Collaborate with the Risk Manager on complex HR and workers’ compensation cases.

  • Schedule in-services and maintain records of orientation and attendance for each employee.

  • Coordinate the safety program and schedule health examinations and tests as directed.

  • Document and coordinate all required fire/internal disaster drills.

  • Communicate courteously and cooperatively with all facility personnel, residents, and the public.

  • Promote good public relations on behalf of the facility.

  • Advertise available positions as requested and provide information to answer questions and requests.

  • Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.

  • Process and monitor garnishment orders and any issues impacting payroll specifications.

  • Update payroll records by reviewing changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, and job titles.

  • Issue paychecks or electronic transfers/direct deposits to bank accounts.

  • Prepare payroll reports, confirming employee earnings, taxes, deductions, and leave.

  • Process manual checks and termination payroll checks within appropriate timeframes.

  • Verify and calculate payroll liabilities, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.

  • Monitor sick and vacation accruals and complete verification of employment requests.

  • Prepare payroll allocation reports for the finance team and reconcile payroll prior to transmission.

  • Maintain confidentiality of payroll operations and provide support for complex HR cases as needed.

  • Regularly complete audits and corrections to maintain compliance.

Supervisory Requirements:

  • This position may include supervisory responsibilities for an HR Assistant.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; two years of college education preferred.

  • Minimum of 2 years of administrative experience, preferably within an HR department.

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills are essential.
