The purpose of this position is to manage the HR function in Indianapolis and Buena Park, CA Distribution Center.  Responsibilities include employee and manager relations, policy development, implementation and interpretation, management training, compensation management, benefit management and overall HR strategic planning.  Also responsible for managing the Executive Assistants and Office Coordinator.

Essential Functions

  • Supervision - Manage HR Generalist, HR Executive Assistant, Sales Executive Assistant and Office Coordinator.  Provide direction and guidance as necessary.
  • Employee Relations - Perform duties related to day-to-day employee relations including answering questions and helping with employee issues.  Responsible for managing the employee service award program.
  • Manager Assistance/Training - Perform management training and assist managers with employee issues.
  • Performance Management – Plan, prep and administer annual performance appraisal process and mid-year goal review process.        Ensure all ECA's are completed and processed in a timely manner. 
  • Compensation - Manage compensation plan by making annual pay range adjustments, complete salary research, ensure updates are made to position matrix and help with determining pay for new and existing employees.  Maintain job descriptions for all Indianapolis and California positions. 
  • Recruiting - Administer recruiting process including posting job openings on appropriate job boards, scanning resumes, phone screening, interviewing, background screening and helping management determine best fit candidate for the department.  Handle all steps of the offer process. 
  • Benefits - Oversee employee benefit programs maintained by HR Generalist.  Present at annual benefits update meeting.  Meet with benefits broker on a regular basis to review the status of each plan and recommend plan changes to upper management as necessary.
  • Policy Development - Develop, implement and interpret policies.
  • Wellness - Manage fitness vendor.  Coordinate yearly wellness exams and wellness program.
  • California DC HR - Assist with HR issues at California DC as necessary.  Maintain regular contact with DC Manager and Warehouse Supervisor via monthly conference calls.
  • Employee Events - Manage and coordinate employee events such as picnic and Employee Appreciation Day.
