Argus Medical Management is a physician practice management company based in Long Beach. For 26 years, we have provided all Management Services critical to running a successful medical practice allowing our physician clients to focus on the practice of medicine. We are currently seeking an experienced, dynamic HR Manager to join our growing team!

The HR Manager is responsible for creating and cultivating a supportive department designed to service both corporate and medical office staff. Managing a department of three direct reports, the HRM will provide guidance and expertise on all HR related manners such as recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, payroll, training, employment law, and compliance.

Job Type: Full-time, Direct hire

Pay: $104,000 - 124,800 annual salary

Hours: Mon-Fri (Possibly Weekends)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

HUMAN RESOURCES RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • On-going knowledge, development and execution of HR policy and procedure
  • Immediate response to disciplinary issues and employee relations
  • Coordination with managers on temporary staffing on short notice to cover vacancies in physician offices
  • Routine training and guidance to Managers and Supervisors in all HR related matters
  • Annual review of Employee Handbook
  • Management of employee records/personnel files; compliance reporting and I-9 documentation
  • Coordinating background checks and drug screening
  • Conducting employee orientations
  • Developing and maintaining job descriptions for all positions
  • Coordinating annual employee evaluation program
  • Researching local market for rate of pay increases and salary levels for key positions
  • Key liaison to H.R. consulting firm on retainer
  • Assisting management with recruiting efforts
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

BENEFITS ADMINISTRATION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Developing and procuring all materials required for benefits administration including managing the open enrollment process
  • Ability to design cost effective benefits programs by working with brokers to negotiate rates on the best pricing
  • Maintaining the FSA plan
  • Coordinating all aspects of pension / 401k plan including submitting data for testing, new employee enrollment, loans, etc.
  • Reconciliation of monthly benefits invoices to employee census/scheduled payroll deductions
  • Managing leave of absences and be knowledgeable of leave laws such as PDL, FMLA, CFRA, and ADA as well as the integration of the leaves
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

PAYROLL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understanding of the payroll system and be able to fully utilize the reports module for payroll census for various needs
  • Be responsible for all payroll functions and all payroll personnel
  • Be able to administer the full payroll cycle for all companies

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • 5-7 years of progressively responsible generalist and supervision experience
  • Excellent knowledge of labor law, benefits administration
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to manipulate data in Excel
  • Working knowledge of ADP Workforce Now Payroll/HRIS system and Fidelity Plan Sponsor or other vendors with the ability to learn very quickly
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Search and e-mail

EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, CERTIFICATION AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors Degree in related field or actual equivalent work experience

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Limited travel out of the Los Angeles Area (occasional travel to San Diego)
  • Private automobile in good working condition with the ability to drive to meetings as needed.
  • Ability to have flexible hours to include early morning or late night meetings with physicians.
  • Auto. Insurance with $100,000 /$300,000 coverage limits
  • Requires adherence to all policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards for safety, attendance, punctuality and personal appearance.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while performing desk-based tasks
  • Frequent use of computer, keyboard, mouse, and phone for data entry and communication
  • Occasional walking, standing, bending, and reaching to retrieve files or office materials
  • Ability to lift or carry light office supplies or documents (typically up to 15 lbs)
  • Visual acuity required for reading, reviewing documents, and working with databases
  • Manual dexterity required for frequent writing and use of office equipment

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Professional office setting within a healthcare administration environment
  • Fast-paced, deadline-driven atmosphere with frequent interruptions
  • Frequent interaction with internal departments and external providers
  • Primarily on-site work with standard office equipment (computers, phones, printers, etc.)
  • Occasional extended screen time due to database and document management
  • Adherence to confidentiality and HIPAA compliance standards is required
